    Big question. Embryos!

I have had way better luck buying the embryos I want privately than through a sale.  When you start calling guys about embryos it gets them thinking about stuff they may have forgotten they had.  You can also get some pretty good "basket" deals.

how to become a cattle jock

Get your equipment so that it will all fit in an easy to carry tool box. (one on wheels with a handle is great). Make a few business cards with your phone number on them.  Keep your equipment and your cards with you at all times.  When you get to a show walk through the barn and introduce...

    Club calf bull maximilian

Joe Griswold had a 1991 model angus bull, Maxi Million that Herring's owned.  He showed up in a lot of the older Exposure Female Sale pedigrees for Collin's.  But I don't think I know of a clubby bull with that name.  Do have the name of the breeder or owner? G C C Maxi Million 1105 Reg: AAA...

Has anyone ever crossed a clubby bull w/highland cow??

Here is the thread about Lautner's Highlander Bull from '09.  I never did see any of the calves just pictures of the bulls leg hair and a yard stick measuring it. http://www.steerplanet.com/bb/the-big-show/lautner-highlander-bull/

Price point for Bulls in the United States

I am not sure this article from Drovers will answer your question.  But is will give you an idea of what to spend.  Its a deceptive number if you look at the average price paid.  Take Schaff Angus Valley as an example, the average price of their bulls is no indication of what the majority of...

Secrets to feeding a show steer

The best tip we got with regard to feeding hay is to feed it at noon.(about 2 flakes per head)  We also used native prairie hay.  Our neighbor had a 10 acre patch of native prairie grass and he would put up small square bales for us.

Phone Bid Off vs. Online Sale

I noticed that most of the sales on Steerbidder are Phone Bid Off  rather than Online Sale.  What would be the advantage of doing that?  I thought that is why Online Sales had become so popular.  Phone bid off is a slow process that requires a lot of labor and can drag on for a few days.  Any...

good cool room layout for cheap? what do i need to have a cool room for 1 cow?

For Cheap: make it like a root cellar. Dirt is the best insulator and it will stay dark and damp.  Also, your cooling costs are much less.  The best cooling room I ever saw was in a basement corner of an old 2 story barn with rock walls.

    Non paying show cattle trader

Start with a letter from your attorney.  Let them know that you are going to seek a "judgement" and outline the penalties, seizure of assets including garnishment of wages.  This usually gets their attention and prevents the run around with the legal system.  I don't know any local law...
