They make heat tape that is small (like the thickness of yarn) that you can run up and wrap around the faucet. Normal heat tape is normally too wide to wrap around the faucet. You can also get a heat lamp bulb that is shatter proof if contacted by moisture, I have had best luck with these...

Could be because she was over stimulated. Have had cows do this before. Our guy normally starts them out on a low dose to see how they respond. Will bump them up on dosage as needed, every once in awhile one will over stimulate when he bumps them up on dosage.

Since you have the feed I would wean the calves and run the cows with the opens. We have been early weaning our fall calvers at 90 days and it has cut our feed costs dramatically and the cows have been breeding better and staying in better condition all yr round. We ran 2 yr worth of trials...

We got along pretty good with him on Simmy cows. 2 problems were they were not very good haired and attitude could have been better. But sure added muscle and bone to them.

I would look into feeding dairy hfrs if you have the feed and lots. Or if you can sit in the sale barn and buy some smaller bunches then get them sorted up at home and make loads and "upgrade" them you can normally turn a profit. As a young producer myself I feel that we have to have diversity...

That black and white steer looks like one we sold to a guy back east (I think he was from Ohio). Anyways he is bred the same. Steers look nice. Best of luck with them

We have had some traffic but everybody seems to be waiting until the bid sales start in a couple weeks. I don't know what else to say but if you are in the market for a steer or heifer at a reasonable price and still be highly competitive you need to take a closer look at these calves.
