    County Fair

Jeez, how big is your fair? We had maybe 30 market steers this year. We have an auction and the steers sell for 1.60-1.90/lb. Sounds like you did pretty well.

    Crazy Horse!!!

First off, I know how crazy horses can be! We have had one horse, and we had to get rid of her about a week after we got her (from a family member). She would not let the cows, or bulls eat. She would bite them, kick them, anything. They were terrified of her. You couldn't ride her. As for...

    Soap?

For everyday washing we used to use Ivory. Now we have switched over to Dawn Dish Soap. It works great. For shows and before clipping we use Sullivans Clear Choice.

    hard steer towalk

You are having the same problem we had. Do you have a small tractor, or can you find one to use for a day or two? If so, just hook them up behind there, and pull them along at a nice steady walking pace. They will learn to "Obey The Halter", lol

Tired Of Your Wash Hoses Being A Mess???

Well, I was, and I found a great way to keep them neat when im not using them. Take an old oil drum, and cut one of the tops off, and clean it out good. Then set a 5 gallon bucket down in it. Then you can just run the hose around the bucket and it will stay in a nice coil. Also, it helps to put...

    Final Answer

Has anyone used him? I have seen some really nice calves out of him, and the yearlings he sired at Connealy's looked great and sold well. What do you think?

    Plum Island

I know there are 5 spots that they are looking at. The closest to me is Manhattan, Kansas. I think that they are in each corner, and the middle of the US.

    maine angus cow flush

What was her birth weight? If you do need a smaller calving bull, we have used Morgans Direction, In Focus, Rito 1I2 and Rito 6I6 on some of our heifers and 2-3 year calvers. Those bulls throw the best heifers we have ever raised, and more are coming in this year. If you can find some, might use...

    Plum Island

Just got the new Angus Journal today. There was a big story on the Animal Disease Research Center that is located on Plum Island. The island is 840 acres, and is located in a remote location off of the New York Coast, and is only acessable by boat or helicopter. The facilities are becoming...

    Live auction

I like that site, but there are a few things I would like to see changed IMHO. #1. Better quality video, and more angles to see the cattle better. #2. A "chart" similar to DV Auction that lists the lots and prices of them.

    Paint

Use Hocus Pocus, and then Sullivans Clear Choice just like Zach and Garret said. You have to let that Hocus Pocus sit a little bit to break down the adhesive, you can't just spray it on at the wash rack and rinse it off right away. Another thing that may help.......Good Ol' Elbow Grease  ;)

    fitting legs

    1. Comb a generous amount of shaving cream into dry hair until it is not visible, 2. Comb hair forward and slightly upwards. Try to fill in "low" spots in the leg to make them appear full. 3. Apply a small amount of Prime Time Adhesive, combing again to assure that the hair stays where you want...

    ? QUESTION ?

There's a dollar general a few blocks from our fair grounds, so we just use the cheap shaving cream. It actually works great lol

    Calves For County Fair (Pictures)

Fair is July 13-17 I believe. They will be clipped end of this week or the beginning of next. The Market Heifer is a full sister to the one that won the Market Heifer show last year.

    Calves For County Fair (Pictures)

Well, our county fair is in 2 weeks, so I thought I would get some opinions on the calves. It is just a small country fair with maybe 30 calves in it. Let me know what you think. Picture 1: Angus Steer, out of a herd bull "Festus". Picture 2: Angus Market Heifer, out of one of our herd bulls...

Sad that it is comming to this..

I have heard of things like this happening. These people have no respect. If they would go out and earn and honest living, they wouldn't have to resort to things like this. I have also heard of cults butchering animals for "rituals." These people make me sick. Turk

    No hair shows

Well, i know a lot of people work REALLY hard to get hair, and to just shave it off seems stupid to me. I have never had a hairy calf though. Living in Nebraska with just a barn and 2 turbo fans probably doesn't help that much. lol.
