Just wondering, What does everyone use for fillers in show calves. We have used cotten seed hulls Iv herd most people use beat pulp. The guy we got some steers from said there is a new product called "Belly Full"? what do you use?

Our entire family wear Bog boots, They work very well, keep your feet nice and cozy, and are plenty high to keep water and snow out. A good pair of cowboy boots works well too

We made a small box out of plywood and used a small house heater. It has saved many calves and has been well worth it.

Haha, Yea they have some wierd names for stuff, round here its, ice pellets, freezing rain, sleet....... It is very cool to look at, BUT I hate the stuff. Hard to do chores and stuff haha.

Thing that works well for me is try and take them by the side of the barn or other building to reduce the amount of sun glaring off the snow.

When you think about it, The statement is partially true. If you remove carrier sires, there will be no homozygous calves born, BUT there is still the possibility of a carrier calf being born if the dam is a carrier.

Since we just show at county fair, we usually put in some shaving cream, comb it up and work it iin. Then hit it with some Prime Time and Black Touch Up to cover up any shaving cream that may be left, and blend the black from the hooves up through the leg.

I also bought a Paddy steer to show next year. Well, actually dad picked him out, and I haven't even seen him yet!!! I really like Paddy and the guy we bought him from, his daughter showed one last year and took 1st in class. To me they look like they will show good.

I really hate things like this. If they want to get eggs or DNA from an animal. Why not do it BEFORE the sale!?!?!?!?! It would reduce a lot of headaches that would go along with them doing it AFTER the sale. The eggs/DNA will be the same before or after the sale. Just plan ahead and do it...
