    Suggestions to improve heifer's appearance

Between the bulls you have mentioned I would definitely go with Hot Commodity. I have used him on a bunch of 1st calf heifers with no issues. Also the H.C. cows are proven as being good momma cows. With that being said, the 2 H.C. sons that have been discussed on here - Dales Hot Commodity son...

    vaquero stuff

I know what you mean. I bought a cow one time from Ric Hoyt in Burns , OR. She was a hand full in the beginning. I saw Ric at NAILE that fall and asked him how small his smallest pasture was and he said 500 acres. No wonder she was freaking out in a 60 acre field. She finally settled down. She...

Pretty cool story on Jesse Wilkinson. 85' riatas is unreal, I have a hard enough time with a 35' rope. I loved the part about the elk.

Shorthorn Bulls to Use on Angus Heifers?

Hot Commodity is fine for 1st calf heifers. Wouldn't hesitate for a second to use him on 1st calf heifers and have. Just won't get a lot of color on Angus heifers. Plus $100/straw. If color is last requirement then besides Kane Nitro I recommend SLF Red Hot Commodity (Hot Commodity son we have)...

Shorthorn Bulls to Use on Angus Heifers?

Yea, I probably wouldn't. If you are talking about Phildon JBS Fringe, he has probably one of the highest BEPD in the Shorthorn breed. I would be hesitant on breeding a cow to him.

Phil didn't own Cherokee Trailer. Another guy in TN that owned Shorthorns did. I don't remember that particular cow, but Phil owned a lot of good ones over the years. Brent Elam and I went to the 3W dispersal and bought several there for him. Phil's big problem was that if he really like them...

A pretty much all red Shorthorn bull that sired class winners

I owned Stride. He was a DS carrier. He was TH clean, even though they have him listed as probable. I bought him and Durango when I bought the Willard Keith herd. Stride and Durango were 2 of the first cattle that Beever did TH testing on in the beginning. I had some really good daughters of him...

A pretty much all red Shorthorn bull that sired class winners

The Duke dtrs I had all milked good. Duke, Prime Time, Irish Mist and Improver were my favorites. I got along pretty good with UT on heifers. Highler 202 I liked when I saw him, but his progeny did the least for me. Hazel Leap was another one that I had a couple pretty good daughters of.
