    Bulls siring larger frames

Where did you find frame 3 and 4 cattle?  I am not doubting you I would like to know where to find them.

    Bulls siring larger frames

Thanks for the reply.  I like cattle that weigh heavy too I just don't think I need long legs to do that.  I used to have a bull that was a frame score 4 that weighed a ton.  I love his daughters.  I finish my own cattle on grass so maybe that takes a different phenotype, but I still think it is...

Just curious as to why you want calves with that frame size.  I am trying to get to a 4 frame score.  We don't all have to be alike but what advantage do you think you get from that frame score?

What do you think of this bull?

I do not believe that CUP labs are capable of doing the ultra sound for tenderness.  If you want to do the tenderness ultra sound I would call Clay Nash.  Tenderness is not the only thing he does, he does all the usual too but he also includes tenderness.  Kit Pharo has been using this for many...

What do you think of this bull?

I do not know that but it cost me $10 a head.  I did wait until he was in the general area.

What do you think of this bull?

At the bottom of the article it talks about it.  Maybe not everything that you ever wanted to know, but there is information and also contact information so you can learn more.

What do you think of this bull?

Dr. Allen Williams has an ultrasound program that his technician Clay Nash uses and travels around and does it.  I had every animal on the place done two and a half years ago.  He also does the usual ultrasound also.  Some use DNA markers but I am  not much of a believer of that.

What do you think of this bull?

He is thick.  Birth weight and frame score?  I don't suppose there is any info on tenderness.

A better answer to the questions about Docs' cows is when the race for tall was going he only went so far.  He did not use the milking shorthorns like Columbus and Clark.  He did dabble a little with Irish.

He had good cows, including some Haumont cows.  Weston Dynamo was a blend of Haumont and Albaugh genetics.  Weston Surprise was sired by Albaugh genetics.  I had a Dynamo son out of a Haumont cow that was quite thick.

The bull was born in 1962 and yes he was a little taller than most.  Doc Nold did good things with Shadybrook Goliath.  There are bulls that can sire 1250 pound cows.  In addition to that I need cattle that are tough enough to graze most of the winter and produce very tender, highly marbled...

My dad bought a bull from Bert Hanson that left many 1200 pound daughters.  One of those Shadybrook Select 62nd daughters produced test station top gainers back when I thought test stations were relevant.  When we sold that cow she weighed 1250.  That cow is why I want frame score 4 1250 pound cows.

I too used leader 21 and leader 9 fifty years ago.  His grand sire was Priam Royal leader.  They may be small framed cattle,  I like small framed cattle especially the ones that weigh a lot.  In my world big is pounds not inches.  I sell beef by the pound, most of my customers never see the...
