Brad, I'm on the fence with cloning.  I agree that no genetic improvement is made if we keep cloning.  But, then I think, maybe this bull hasn't been mated to the right cow yet.  He died before he could produce a son better than himself.  The generation interval is too darn long with cattle!! ...

I'd keep the mating.  Bad Medicine females are pretty good.  Deep and soggy on angus cows.  I like them.  Agles bought him at one of the first Ohio Beef Expos.  I saw him sell, a friend of mine was bidding on him too.  I think someone like Klingner had him there.

I re-use some.  Clean them in Nolvasan, let air dry.  Tie a knot in the end of the used ones to differentiate from the new ones.  I haven't seen a difference between new and used.  But I don't carry them over to the next year.  I'll buy new ones every year.

We have a couple.  Stout, hairy, and thick.  Use him on a good fronted cow.  There is a picture of the heifer on page three of "Post your calves thread."

ok, I'll give it a shot.  These calves were all born the last week of Feb.  Pictures taken this morning about 18 deg. outside.

Ohio tests a lot.  If you are feeding a medicated feed, you better look at the witdrawl (if any), and abide by that.  Show day is considered slaughter day here.
