    Simmy Jr National Purbred Results

The Summer Time heifer is the best Star Power daughter I have ever seen.  She is fantastic.  She sold at the Land of Lincoln sale last fall.

Anyone have much experience with the 5.4L gas Ford Engine

Looking at a low mile used 3/4 ton (2005).  I would prefer a 6.0 diesel but the saving of $6000 to $8000 would be a big plus to me. Just curious what everyone's opinion on it is specifically for pulling.  I don't pull near as many loads as most on here, but I don't want to have a complete dog...

    Simmental Bull - Beefmaker

Just wanted some opinions around him.  I have never used him much, but might be interested on using him on some heifers.

    Why does it always RAIN?

Second most stressful thing to me is hay cutting, only behind heifers calving.  I swear I was a nervous wreck all week watching the skies.

How many days do you wait between calving and breeding.

I normally wait 45 days as a rule. I have a cow that calved 35 days ago, and was in heat this morning.  She had an unassisted uneventful heifer calf birth.  She is in great shape. I more than likely will run her through the chute this evening, but was just wondering what everyone else does.

    Grandmaster

Specifically the growth numbers.  What I have heard on CE, BW has been pretty solid.

What age do you personally breed heifers to calve at?

Just curious across the board if people aim right for 24 months or try for shorter/longer?  Is it a case by case basis?

September Simmental Steer/ Bull for sale

Calf is still pretty green.  He hasn't been fed up or pampered at all.  his current ration is basically a starter creep.  He is currently in a pen/lot with several other fall born bulls.

September Simmental Steer/ Bull for sale

September Built Right son born 9/16.  He is a Built Right son out of an Ameritrade daughter.  He is halter broke, docile,  and ready to go.  He is currently still a bull, however as of right now I plan on steering him in the next two weeks.  He is a purebred Simmy.  I will have registration...

    Board suggestion

Would it be possible to make the classified board longer.  In other words could there be more topics that appeared at least on the front page so that people did not have to bump to the top constantly? Just a thought.

Gooseneck on a 1/2 ton truck

Anyone pull a gooseneck on a 1/2 ton truck? The truck we use to pull the gooseneck is getting a few too many miles on it to trust on some of our longer trips.  I thought about maybe putting a gooseneck hitch on 1/2 ton Chevy Silverado for the time being.  Does anyone pull your gooseneck with a...

    Ear tagging question

I usually tag calves when I first find them.  I tag them in the middle rib of the ear as a rule.  I have a heifer that is 6 days old that has a bit of a droopy ear past the ear tag. Is it possible I hit something when I tagged her?  If I did should I cut it out and retag her, or is the damage...

    Simmi Heifer

Depends what direction you want to go. Purebred wise I think Trademark would work well on that mating. If you are looking for true calving ease, maybe someone like Hustler.  ( I am not a huge fan of his, but he makes them tiny and alive) I just bought some Grandmaster for the tank that I am...

    Dream On

They can come big every now and then.  But the beauty is they tend to come out. They are normally long and if you do have to pull, very easy pulls.

KSU Bull Sale video - a little about the cattle and the students

I have bought a couple of cows off of this sale in the past, and know a couple of folks very close to the program. It is a very well run sale, and a great opportunity to purchase some rock solid Angus, Hereford, or Simmental genetics.  On the Simmy Side, the Mo Better Lot 36 bull, (the one...
