2 steers, 1 Simm, 1 X-Bred
2 heifers, 1 Simm, 1 Maine
Plus a couple of youngsters who are just getting into showing, I thought this would be a great way to introduce them to what it is all about
and have alot of fun as well.
Good Luck to everyone
The proper attire IMHO is: Clean starched jeans/slacks (that fit!), a belt, pressed long sleeved buttoned up shirt (even if it is summer and HOT!), clean boots, groomed hair, and a wonderful attitude. Like ROMAX stated make sure that your shirt color works as an accent with the color of your...
Herefordfootball, sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation, hope everything goes your way and we'll be saying a prayer for you.
Jaleb and family did an exceptionally wonderful thing for you this past weekend and it truly shows what type of people they are.
What an Awesome gift from a truly special individual.
Thank you Cowboy for your thoughtfulness and generosity, there are angels on earth and your halo is shining brightly (angel).
Thank you to the others whom I am sure had a hand in the success - GOD, Darby and our very own Red.
Merry CHRISTmas...
Welcome!
As you are already aware, there is a wealth of knowledge to be gained here. No matter what breed or type of cattle you are raising there is always someone(s) more than willing to help you out. These folks are the best! <party>
First year I had a hereford X steer (Hereford Bull and a Black Baldy, God only knows just what her breeding was at the time). I loved that calf, spent countless hours in the barn brushing and talking to him. I don't recall how I placed at the county fair, but do remember the entire experience...
I know what you are saying Simmymom1, justamom and Cowboy, things have changed on SP without our dear Red. I think about her quite frequently when lurking on SP or just out with the cattle. She posted so many posts that gave us something to think about and reflect upon, you could always count on...
Had a heifer calf a few years back that we had to pull and put on a bottle due to problems with the cow, calf was about three weeks old at the time. It took about a day and a half and some persistant work, but the little gal took to the bottle as well as feed and turned out quite well. Good Luck!
Thanks for the reminder DL, just wish I had thought about harvesting the ear as I have had a couple of "weird" Angus cross calves just recently(all stillborn). I did send them for necropsy, but reports came back inconclusive. Makes me wonder if they were looking for possible genetic defects or...
Does anyone have any idea as to what the gestation for Paddy O'Malley calves is running? Does he have a tendancy to run a little longer, shorter etc.? Any idea on average birth weights? Waiting on a few and so far all of ours have been running over a bit this year
Congratulations Red <party>
Good to hear you are back out in the barn with the critters. Sounds like just the kind of therapy you need.
We'll all be looking for updates in the following days to hear how things are going. (clapping)
Red,
I met you briefly at the Ohio Beef Expo this past year (being new to SP I didn't realize that you were THE Red). I enjoyed our conversation at the time and am looking forward to talking with you this coming year, now that I know who you are. While you were gone from the site, I still...
I would appreciate any suggestions on what photoshop product to purchase. My intent is basically to remove unwanted items or people ( the ones that happen to just walk behind an animal while you are taking the pic at a show etc.) from the backgrounds of some pics. and of course the occasional...
