    SAV Bismarck calves

We've used bismarck some and I've found that he works best on thick longer made cows and heifers.  He'll clean up a front end some and really smooth them out.

Yeah, we were fortunate on the calf!  Now I just need to get a new showstick for my nephew before he comes back out.

    One of those nights!

Tell me about it!  At one point tonight I would have sold them all pretty reasonably! (lol)

    One of those nights!

So today I get home from work and check a bred heifer that is due to calve anytime by the way she looks.  She has two feet sticking out with normal presentation. I think to myself "Cool. This is gonna be easy!".  Big mistake!  I keep waiting and there is absolutely no progress.  Just a heifer...

mis-presented - fluke or trend this year?

I totally agree with this.  It seems every time we have a breech the calf is usually large.  If I know the calf is breech I call the vet immediately!  Those calves have to get out fast if they're gonna have a chance! I know it seems like things can't go right sometimes and breech presentation...

    Birthweights on ET bulls

I don't know if I would cut the first bull.  If you're gonna keep the bull for yourself try him out on some bigger cows.  Also, did the person you bought these embryos off of have any calves from the flush?  Did he keep any for bulls?

What is the Value of a herd sire.

I completely agree with you on this.  I will say location has to be a pretty big deciding factor on the amount of money spent on bulls.  Here in Illinois you get commercial guys griping if you have a bull priced over 2k.  They just won't pay more than that.  However, they still want the best you...

    Birthweights on ET bulls

I thought that I read somewhere that if the angus embryo calf is born to a registered Angus recip you can get numbers on them.  They take the numbers of the recip to calculate difference.  Not sure how the calculations would go.  I could be completely wrong on this too!  ;D In all honesty, I...

    Birthweights on ET bulls

Interesting topic.  three years ago one of my ET bulls had a birth weight of 108.  I was going to steer him but decided to take a chance on him as his Sire was calving ease and so was his dam.  I currently have around 20 show oriented cows and my grandfather has about 80 commercial cows.  I used...

4 EVERYONE That's Ever Had a Cattle Dog.

Thought that was pretty funny until I saw the strands of barb wire. We had a heifer do that once and she got cut up pretty bad.  Hopefully that wasn't the case here.

No kidding!  What gets me is there was a 180k bull in there too!  One guy bought one of those two that you mentioned above by himself.  You talk about selling a bull for that much....I want to be the guy who can afford to drop that much money!  (lol)

That all depends.  If you want a bull to make replacements you could get by with a little extra front.  They will likely be easier keeping and milk better.  That's just my experience with throatier females.  Maybe I'm wrong.  If you want a show animal lookout(like some have suggested above)...

I've got a net worth daughter that I'm just waiting for to calve so I can picture her.  She looks like she's gonna have a beautiful udder and will look awesome slicked out!  When is your sale?  Do you have pics or videos of your net worth bull?

    Net Worth calves attitude

The Net worths that we have are really good dispostioned.  From what I've heard you don't want to use him on anything that has attitude.  If the cow is docile the calf will follow suit.  If the cows is waspy....you'd better fortify your barn!  BTW, we've got four net worths that I'd let my 5year...
