I believe the cost of bandwidth has driven them to this model.  Live video requires a considerable amount of bandwidth.  I would tend to believe with newer compression formats or possibly just using a free 3rd party provider (ads) for non buyers, that this could be some what mitigated.

Upgrade getting ready to take place, putting site in maintenance mode - you will not be able to browse the forums.  Other parts of the site will work fine.  This could take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.

We will be putting the forum in maintenance mode tonight around 11:00 pm central time to perform a large upgrade package to the forum and roll out a new design. You will not be able to access the forum for up to 3 hours as we perform the process. Initially you might see a few options missing...
