We have not had a repro exam done on her. What issues would cause this? I am guessing I will give her another week or 2 and then ship her. We have been doing this for 30 years and never had a heifer not cycle that I can remember.
We have a heifer...born March of 2023 that I have been watching heat cycles on for 70 days. We gave her a shot of lutalyse planning to AI her the first week of May. She did not respond (the other 2 replacements heifers responded.) So I watched her for 21 days to catch a natural cycle. She never...
We had a calf born Wednesday night. Still has not been able to stand. We are bottle feeding her. Has 1 normal front leg and 1 that just curls under her when she tries to stand. Seems very flimsy and has an odd bend just below the shoulder area. I am finally able to stand her on 3 legs when I...
Anyone have info on Phil Lautners new bull from last spring (2022) Trustworthy? Believe they took him to Cattlemen's Congress last year. I think he has a nice look and his video is impressive as well. I feel like he has flown under the radar. Should be calves on the ground this winter/spring.
Had a Yeti heifer in 2018. She was puppy dog tame from day 1. Born unassisted. Kept her as a cow. She is due for her first calf in about a month. Good profile, good haired, sound, but not a ton of bone or thickness which surprised me.
We have probably had 8 or 10 of them the last 3 years. They have a little fire to them but have all been breakable. Just jumpy at times. Not nearly as bad as the Believe In Me's or Walks Alones a few years ago.
Anyone know if Don Harsh is still hauling livestock or any others still in the business? I have called several of the drivers that we have used for years and they are no longer doing it.
Thank you!
I took a chance and used him on a Crimson Tide clubby heifer. Had a bull calf in the 75 lb range. Easy pull, good shape. Turning into a nice calf. Good haired for an Angus and has an impressive side profile. Just lacks the power, but that was expected.
I would say he follows the cow on front ends. He definitely doesnt clean up a front end. I think he's the best clubby bull out there. He puts some growth in them with plenty of soundness. Never had any crazy birthweights, most in the 80's.
I think this bull continues to be under used. I have attached a calf by No Surprise out of PB Hereford cow. Will be using more of him this year. Pic was taken the day she was born.
Would you say GCC Whizard is heifer safe? I know a lot of the bred heifers in Jimmy Martin's sale used to be bred to Whizard and then it kind of went away. Thought maybe it was because he wasnt as surefire calving ease as they originally thought?
I have no affiliation with that bull and don't even have a hereford on the farm but I do think part of that straightness look is how the white and red tie in together. I definitely noticed the same thing at first glance.
