best way to supplement hay for both protein and energy?

Cows are being fed round bales grass hay and 5lbs per day of a 12% steer finisher. Cows need to put on some weight/condition. Thinking of adding 20% Easyblox compressed block tub. Of course, wanting to do this as cheap as possible. We are located in Michigan. Thanks for your advise. DLZ

    calf prices this fall

I know it is early yet but was wondering what everyones thoughts are on calf prices this year; higher, lower, or about the same as previous years. I realize the top 5% will always bring top money but what about your average county fair type calves. With feed cost going up and up wondering how...

Daughter's Steer tries to take her ... any quick fixes?

Agreed; not enough time for her and the steer to build up some trust so they can work together. Also maybe not the best idea to be in the pen when feeding, some steer will let nothing get in the way between them and their meal. I more time I might suggest tieng the steer, then put feed in pan...

    Show Sticks

I really think whips are the way to go. Better controll if you train them to it at home. That is the key. Get them used to the whip at home and you will be to effortlessly controll them in the show ring. The whips are also less obtrusive and allow the illusion that the pigs are just traveling on...

    SHowmanship

I know in showing show hunter horses judges would mark you down for ostentatious clothing and equipment. Is it the same in the cattle world? ??? Just remember what you are trying to "show", yourself or your calf. Need to dress neat but not too flashy that it takes focus away from your calf. DLZ
