Well our beef, pig and sheep judges r from texas. Our beef judge is Jeff Sargent and he had a little diffrent style than the judges we are use to but I dont think he made a single bad placement - very honest, funny, moved classes along pretty well, and gave each kid lots of good info in show...

    Bottle/Bucket Calf Show

Me too! we dont have one but it sounds like it would be fun and it would help little kids build confidence in more ways than one. But cloverbuds (young 4h) cant show "large animals" like sheep, pigs, beef so i wonder if they would let them do it - very stickler around here.

    BLACK VS. RED!!!!

Of course! :DLOL  so mych more mild tempered, imo better qualitys for breeding and eating, ect. so idk why black is better ::).  But its always going to be an arguement  (argue). I dont believe in "once you go black, you never go back"

I just found out why my steers belly was so big - our trimmer thinks he's foundered :(.  What happend was we were gone and somehow all of our calves got out (we never use this gate but it was off its hinges and untied - we think foul play by some one we know but no proof) well we are surrounded...

    Looking

I am looking for heifers and cows and possibly a bull in the northwest (not horribly far from Idaho). Registered herefords, salers, shorthorns and maybe limosin. Also any composit that would make good clubby calves.

    Too much belly

He is getting some finish on him but not nearly as much as he needs/the other steers have but he has like over a month b4 he shows. Hes prob 1100 right now - not a big steer as far as frame - just a shorthorn cross. I will try and get some pics on my phone but i warn you he's in need of a good...

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

Thats what I was thinking. I never saw anything in our rule books about it but I guess it wouldnt be a problem at our fair since you cant go anywhere secretive with your steer to do it.

Any one heard of some "calming shots" for steers?

Ugh sounds like a ridiculous waste of time - like i said I was just curios, I would seriously be afraid of hurting them/ messing them up and theres no need for me to use it anyway - I assume its so they don't look sunken in?

    Too much belly

I have a steer that has a substantial amount of muscle but potential for more and has some cover on him and a wide back. Well he is putting all of his food into getting a big fat gut instead of anything else. So when you look at him its like front end, huge belly, cant see butt. it makes him...

Hmmm, ok :-\ seems like that would stress them out more than anything. Id be afraid of drowning it  :D
