    Been Hiding this one...

Thanks Okotoks!  Pretty fond of her myself, although being a Resource she's not really show ring pretty but I think the calf in front of her proves what she's all about.  Pretty excited for her calf this spring.  Got her bred to Bruin Torque (pic below).  He's darn near the ideal angus bull in...

A couple more shows and a couple placings near the top but no big wins this time out.  her bull calf is sure coming on strong though.

    This Year's Show Bull

No EPDS are not used in Canadian shows at all.  In almost every case that would have helped my cause but that being said, I am not a big promoter of using numbers to judge a show. Good numbers are a good thing but typically the numbers are the last thing I evaluate when choosing animals to use.

    S A V Rainfall and Raindance

From what I've seen and heard SAV President calves have been the best of the charlo/4136 combo bulls on the market.  Rainfall/Raindance are pretty weak topped.

    This Year's Show Bull

We were Reserve Senior Champion at the first show and 2nd in class at the next show. Comments were consistent in that he was the best moving bull out there, just doesn't look like a "show bull".  One judge said he had too much muscle....the other said he lacked enough performance (he weighs...

    Angus Herd Sire Progression

I think I know where Elvis gets his longevity from.  Here's a pic I snapped on the weekend of his mother, at 10 years of age on pasture raising a big January calf...not bad.

    This Year's Show Bull

Thank you!  We will be selling packages ourselves for now unless I figure something else out this fall. Semen will be handled/exported by Alta Genetics.  Feel free to message me for prices and details.

    This Year's Show Bull

April born bull calf off Sandman.  He puts some thickness and hair (if you'd believe it) into them.

    This Year's Show Bull

I thought we'd dig a bit deeper this year for the National Angus show we are hosting in Manitoba so I went to the pasture and pull this guy from 45 pairs in mid august.  N7's Sandman 17D is a son of SAV Resource (I know, another resource son. boring).  His dam is a daughter of Tokach Update...

Thanks Everyone.  Blackwood Lady 2D and Boomer 6F had their first show of the season and they came out on top! Hopefully she has a few more wins in her this fall.

Got a better pic of the pair on my cell at lunch time.  The calf is by Bruns Blaster.  He's not huge frame by any means but man is he solid built.  88lb bw and I'll weigh him this weekend.  Thinking around 900lbs. Was born Jan 20th.

    Been Hiding this one...

Thanks!  Bull calf is making friends fast haha.  Lucky me, I have a full sibling brother to that cow.  Walked him some this spring and collected some semen on him.  Pretty excited about the maternal power in that blood.

    Been Hiding this one...

Little update on this one.  She may not have looked like a show heifer to some folks on here but I stand by my assertion that she would be a good cow.  Her first calf standing beside her in the pic below.

    Werner Flat Top 4136

I wouldn't be terribly scared of his feet.  Bismarck's aren't great in general but lots of his progeny are fine and Black Granites have been far better than Bismarcks in that regard.  As always use any new bull with caution though.  They haven't built a perfect one yet.

    Werner Flat Top 4136

We used him across the board on heifers and cows so I should have a pretty good read on him by this time next year.

    Flush Options...Opinions Please

What's her pedigree?  What has worked on her in the past?  What makes her a flush cow? I'm not saying she's not good.  I just like proven producers before trying to flush. What's her claim to fame?

That's why we went with the silage bales.  No special equipment required.

    feeding corn silage to cows

In our area that's all cows get now pretty much.  With the way land values are going the only feasible way to produce the amount of feed to get through 6 months of winter is corn silage.  Just make sure you feed test it and balance the ration with mineral and grain as needed.  You may even be...

    New Donor Cows

That's kind of my point.  Those slighter physique types don't fit my market very well. Part of that is environmental.  We spend 6 months of the year below freezing basically and 4 months of that at close to 20 below celsius. Really small cows don't hold up great (neither do huge cows but that's...

    For my fellow Hereford fans!

Looking goo Larissa.  That bull calf will help pay some bills I bet.  Or you could go buy another heifer....just saying ;)
