Potentially Killed a Calf - Unknowingly

I will admit that having learned my lesson the hard way, I hold the recips around until they calve/ or stand two or three months in a row.  No matter what the vet says.  Feed is expense , but these embryos are nuts.  I have an angus cow bagging up that stood 2 weeks ago.  Insanity is a...

What's the earliest preemie you've had born and live?

When visiting with a well respected cattleman in central Iowa with a large herd, he said he had one 58 days early that lived a week.  I hope to hear of some more.

Barn camera setup I need, is it out there?

Cat5 cable is cheap.  $90 for 300 feet of outdoor cable, I am not sure though if you would need some kind of booster to able to send the signal that far. The 300 feet is right, I have seen it work longer, but not always.  All you would need is a switch (not a router)every 300 feet.  4 port...

What's the earliest preemie you've had born and live?

Doc Good luck with your calf! I had twin bull calves born at 38 days premature on Jan 12th.  Twin #1 had little hair and was alive only an hour or so.  Twin number two is now over 30 days old.  Each twin was just under 30# at birth.  "Bubba" is doing well and finally has enough hair that I...

    How early is too early?

I was told early on to tie them up very early.  Put a halter on at 125-200lbs not 700lbs.  It works great! Tie them up for a short time, they will pull then instead of later, no donkey needed.  they will come up to you all summer if you treat them right early.  You will have a puppy dog quiet...

I think the correct phrase  would be... You are not any more crazy than the rest of us...
