    sexed shorthorn semen

I am sorry to say that we are sold out of sexed semen for this spring on TM Gus 36S. We have sent out the last of it that we don't have marked for a few cows here at home. We will be making more when the old boy comes back in from grass this summer so check with us this fall and we will be back...

Great deal on a herd bull prospect (picture)

The Shorthorn website can give you a pedigree look-up on his dam and there are some great old genetics and some very obscure stuff in there that a lot of good cattle were produced from. I will try to get more pictures when the clouds leave central Kansas I doubt that I can get a very descriptive...

Great deal on a herd bull prospect (picture)

Here is a photo of his dam late last summer on grass with only mineral for suppliment. I forgot to leave my number before, if you have more questions please call (620)282-8364. Thanks for the compliments! Jeff

    K-A Shakedown

I would guess he did good on Vortec's grand dam. ;D

Great deal on a herd bull prospect (picture)

This is a stout made, heavy structured, soggy son of Alta Cedar Signature 119N, and out of the grand dam of TM Gus 36S (yes that makes him way outcrossed to almost anything). He is huge testicled and very sound structured. He is green broke to lead and good dispositioned. This guy would show if...

    2010 arrivals at Oakbar

Lynn, The calves look great! I can't wait for you to get a darn female out of Gus, I don't need the competition for good bulls ;). Great job and I will talk to you soon.

    best fitters

good call j3, I Would also agree with the fitters of  yesteryear even if some folks don't see them in the forground today they are still there. I will add two names not yet mentioned individually, Deb Vorthman and Preston Graves, extremely good fitters that know cattle and that is the key to...

we've started calving! (#6 last one til fall)

Keep us posted on the Gus babies! We had 2 Gus heifers yesterday out of 2 year olds and they look really good. Both unassisted @ 70 and 74 #'s. The are both roans out of spotted cows. Just what a white guy should do. I can't wait to breed his daughters to our new bull! My patience is a mess...

Another Heatwave steer with short horn registration papers

Anyone can say what they want but I sure hope that he is talking about Shorthorn Plus papers on a Heatwave steer. I have taken grief for NOT registering steers that aren't purebred and if this calf is represented that way I for one think it is wrong. If he is going to a state where...

    Durham Red Bulls

The pen of three that these bulls were part of was very consistent and picking the best wouldn't be too easy. I remember them well and they will make outstanding breeding stock. Good luck AJ!

The Man Behind the Bull.....Part 3 is up.

Hook, you are the only man for the job. Great work. If any one has a dry eye after seeing that I don't need to know them. Thank-you Brad.

    K Kim Payton

Hey Jill, Try to google him and if that doesn't work look at Alden or K-Kim's websites. I have seen the bull several times and he is one solid dude. We had a call about him a year ago and should have tried to purchase him then. It looks like he did our friends a lot of good so that will work...

question about breeding and also some suggestions please!

To increase thickness I would use Redhot on your larger framed cows and Milkman on the cows that are more conservative in their frame score. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

    Shortie Guru's--- Vortec?

He can also make them flat out great showmen, ne. I know that you follow Sullivans and the only bull calf in his catalog is a Votec. You can ask  Feeder duck and I, we will tell you that the highest profile heifers to ever leave our barns were Vortec's. Count on high volumed heavy muscled cattle...

I would like to thank all of you for your input, and compiments. I hope this has been a fun thing for everone. I welcome more placings and discussion. If I can when I bring our replacements in from pasture I can take a few photos and do this again. That is still a few weeks away, so in the mean...

    Just for fun (cattle related)

M Bar- it is a good thing for this class that you won't make the owners to mad as long as one of their calves win the class. JIT- I could not agree with you more. Different people in different environments see them all a little different. PLKR- Invent who you want to see on the lead, then you...
