    Fair Steer Sale Video

Thanks for the comments and yes we were very pleased with how much he sold for...The best part is that the people that bought him are letting us keep his hide so we are going to get something made for his breeder and myself. If anyone has suggestions that would be great! Showsteerdlux, the...

    Fair Steer Sale Video

Our fair ended yesterday and I just wanted some honest opinions on this big guy... He's a 1/2 Maine, 1/2 Shorthorn sired by ADM Mr. Moneybags. He sold at 1130 lbs., after sale weight deductions, and was the reserve FFA steer. If anybody wants to see photos let me know because I should have...

    Ideas for my senior pictures??

Thanks so much linnettejane! She really is a character. Here are a few more we have had taken if anybody is interested. That first one we actually didn't plan on taking; it just kind of happened. To me it seems like the best cattle senior/Christmas pictures happen when you don't try really hard...

    Ideas for my senior pictures??

This one isn't a senior picture but it was on our Christmas card. If anybody wants to photoshop anything on it I would love to see it (especially if you could take the tag out)! This heifer is one of those really crazy ones... ;D

    Iowa State Fair-Steer Show

For anyone that has seen him judge what does Jary Douglas look for in steers and heifers? Does he use as many colored calves as black ones? Sorry for getting of topic  ::)

Two of our show calves !

Shortdawg: The steer looks great. You guys are showing him purebred right? SKF: Again great steer. Is he going to be in purebred also? Hopefully there will be enough appendix steers for mine to be in that breed category but I don’t think there was one last year. By the way, is anybody...

    thanks

I would just make sure on her sire. It's not a big deal until you register her or get ready to breed her. She really looks good though.  I’ve got a blue this year but she’s sired by an Angus out of a Sonny/Warhorse cow. Funny how popular blue roans have been lately.

    thanks

Congratulations! She looks good.  You said earlier that she is a Heatwave but if I’m not mistaken doesn’t the picture say she is a Manchild? If she is  Manchild seems to be siring a lot of blues. Good luck with her. :)

Jamie Richards Memorial Classic- Lake City, Fl.

I'm not sure about the steer show but in the heifer show the grand champion heifer came out of the commercial division. I believe she was shown by Harden Mobley. The reserve came out of the Maine division and was shown by Amanda Cone. Both of the heifer champions were very nice calves. The...

DF Casper 236 and All About You

On Phil Lautner's website it says that AAY's birthweight is 75 pounds, however, our calves have been slightly over that. All of the AAY calves that I have been around have been extremely curious ,and pushy to a certain extent, but once mine were broke they were my best acting calves. I still...

DF Casper 236 and All About You

I don’t know about DF Casper but the All About You calves that I have seen are very good. I’ve only seen a few but those few have been very impressing as they are very powerful, sound, balanced and have good attitudes. In my opinion, AAY works well on larger framed, purebred or F1 cows ,however...

    Show halters can be dangerous!!!

If you don't mind it being permanent, you can use clear shrink wrap. It will stop the rattling, won't burn your hands and will give you some grip if you hold onto the chain.

    Supplements?

Thanks for the suggestion. I looked at the Sunglo page and it sounds like the kind of thing I need for him.  Have you ever used Epic before? I’m working his hair so the hair on his body is fine but it’s his leg hair I’m having difficulty with. Also, does anyone have experience with any of the...

    Supplements?

Thought I would ask a quick question about supplements since we have so many show people on this board. I have a June ½ shorthorn ½ maine steer that I’ve posted a picture of before. I’m just curious about what supplements would be good to feed him this summer to keep the hair on him. Right now...

    Pictures of your critters!

Thanks so much for the compliments on Huck.  There’s a rather sad story behind why we have this little guy. The picture below is of Huck’s half sister who was also an ‘ All About You’ that we named Mad About You (Maddie for short). When she was about 6 months she was separated from the rest of...
