I would say you are right on.  I don't see that one going much over 1350 though.  He is moderate in his makeup...which is what we want for a show like that.  We showed him at 950 this weekend.  He is very green.

Is there any benefit to running really fine misters inside a cooler?  In other words, cooler set at 50 or whatever with fans running as well.  Will misters in this environment cause even better results?

I think you are right about Denver being tougher, but I really only see it at the very top end.  It really doesn't effect us one way or another.  Yes we like this steer, and we appreciate the quality.  However, it is way too early to even start thinking this calf has anything close to a chance...

The trick with this one is getting him to look "mature". Everyone thinks he weighs 700 pounds because he looks like that. He weighs over 900 right now.

I am glad you brought this up because I agree that this can be done today.  You either turned left or you turned right.  Occasionally a steer would get moved from the bottom half to the top half, but usually, they had them about right.  Back when AkSarBen was so big, the 3 judges consisted of 1...

You read that one perfectly. He doesn't hit you real hard at first glance. You look at him and say OH, he's cute. Then you watch him move and you say Ya, no muscle if he moves like that. Then you get behind him and you say Oh My?! KC or Denver is our goal. Maybe even Arizona.

I wasn't there, and the only thing I have to go on is the pictures that I have been able to find online. Champion steer looked pretty darn good. Many of the other pictures look a lot like a County Fair. Sorry if I offend anyone, but I am shocked.
