    Ace or Thorazine?

Used Thor once this year on a real heady Angus heifer at Fort Worth.  She would not stand for final fitting and clipping, so we gently helped her relax.  She rewarded my son by laying down as soon as she hit the arena, you got it right in the red dirt.  The boy should have won showmanship for...

    1st calf '09

My oldest son just called me at work to let me know that one of his new Brangus heifers had just calved and calf was up and nursing.  He is out of school today and checked on them at 9:00 am and she was up eating hay, baby hit the ground within the next hour.  He checked it and excitedly...

    Fort Worth Steer Show

My boys did not do well, in and out in a hurry.  I did not feel like there was a true pattern to the selection from class to class.  Not sour grapes on our part, I witnessed better calves than ours get the gate.

    Fort Worth Steer Show

Well it is time, the steers are at Fort Worth waiting to show on Thursday.  We have a slight problem on our best steer, he has a swollen front knee.  Wish the boys luck they will need it.  If you know of any legal remedies to help our situation let me hear them.

    Help!-What could this be?

My oldest son's steer did the same thing last year after he reached about 1100 lbs.  It was always after or during a bath.  My bet would be you are using cold water and he is cramping or spasming in his lower top.  You could see the knot form in the calf's back and if you touched it he would...

Fall Steers and Heifers for sale!!

My son and I had the privilege of meeting Eric and his Dad this past Saturday.  We looked through their steers and cattle herd, very impressive set.  The photo of the Sunseeker x Hoo Doo heifer that is a half sister to our steer this year does not do her justice, she is awesome!  Thanks again...

What was favorite display at Denver or Ft worth?

I enjoyed the Miller Lite display in the Moncrief Arena in Fort Worth.  Something about it just made me keep going back,  I think it calms me when the boys are in the showring.

    Fort worth jr. heifer show

The Jr. Angus show started at 1:00 pm on Sunday, my oldest son was in class 8 with a January '08 and placed 9 out of 21.  It was announced that it was the largest Jr. Angus show in the nation, other than the Angus Jr. Nationals.  The quality ran very deep in all classes, hence the time it took...

Please do and thanks, the boys will need all the luck they can get. One steer has an outside chance the other will end up slick and in Houston.

    Fort Worth Steer Show

BIGTEX,  Come by and visit with us.  We will be with Garrison FFA, they will have 7-8 head there.  You will be able to pick out the orange and white steer pretty easy, he weighed 1175 yesterday.  We are having trouble removing stains off of his hips, tried everything I can think of.  Any ideas?

    Fort Worth Steer Show

My youngest son won his class with his Brangus Heifer and was ignored in Division.  She was the oldest calf in Division and 5 months bred, the judge really hammered the older girls that were carrying condition.  He used the youngest Division in the breed to stand as Breed Champion.  My oldest...

Anyone went from Diesel back to a Gas Pickup?

I have an '01 F250 with the 7.3 diesel that has 225,000 miles and still a workhorse.  I just purchased an '08 F350 with the 6.4 twin turbo diesel.  I pulled my trailer today for the first time in the new truck and love the response of the engine while hauling.  The workhorse part on the new one...

Look for Shorthorn Steer or Heifer

It will be hard to find one at the above site in the budget that was stated.  You would get a better deal from an individual, just my opinion.

    Fort Worth?

I promise you it will not happen this year, we can't afford to take any chances with our best steer.  His hair will not need much work on his legs, it really pops.  The rag man looked at our calves last year and probably thought why bother, they will not make the cut.  It still amazes me the...

    Fort Worth?

Chambero, there is enough paint used there to recolor the barns.  LOL!  Our fitter last year touched up legs with paint and I almost fainted.  I was politely asked to leave and be quiet.  Needless to say I was nervous, until I walked around and saw the big boys fitting.
