    Black shorthorns

My two F1s by Primo milk good, and with a neat udder, but I've heard some say theirs don't milk enough. One of mine even raised twins as a heifer. He downsized the cow in both cases, they aren't really front pasture kind even though one of them was an ET from a donor, and I have to say their...

    r.n.reed passing

I believe his last 5 replacement heifers were offered in their '21 sale. I bid on 3 of the 5 and regret not just buying one of them and ignoring the price tag. I really hope the buyers knew what they bought.

    Calving ease shorthorn question

Jungels had been offering a cane in his sales. It would be worth a call for anyone wanting to use the type. His sire Sultan of Jazz is available from his owner in Oklahoma as well. I had considered using a cane of Ronan on a set of heifers this summer, but I think I'll let everyone else test...

    Calving ease shorthorn question

Hot Commodity is the proven CE from your list. It depends on their type and pedigree, but the Reincarnation 228Y bull is one that gets overlooked. He can deliver some of what you're looking for if the heifers can bring the rest of what's needed to the table. Cattle Visions has added some new...

Thanks Sullivan pulse UP POPS Comptons How its Done + ADDED 2 other bull pics

It's always interesting to me when breeders with actual breed knowledge put together and bring a pedigree like that one back. Nearly every branch is a proven entity.

    Epinal

I believe this is the picture you're looking for when you see Epinal in a pedigree.

    JBS Da Big Hurt

I'll use 13th from his pedigree as an example. He has genetically enhanced growth epd accuracies of .83 for a ranking in the bottom 10-15% of the breed. You'd have to have one out of a no milk desert rat to keep their growth that low. I'm probably one of the only people in two decades to turn in...

    JBS Da Big Hurt

It's not hard to find shorthorns imf scanning 5s, 6s, and even 7s. I bet I could even find some 8s with 5 minutes of searching a couple prefixes. Most all of these would be over 1.1/100 on rea. In today's world, 1.1 might not be enough for some though. It probably is for me on the female side of...

    shortages

It could become a serious issue with chemicals and fertilizer. A lot of people normally prepay for a percentage of their needs at the end of the year for tax and discount reasons, but this time around it's already clear you shouldn't pay for anything that you can't take possession of. Putting...

    Outsider and perfection?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure it makes financial sense for them to use a genetic source that they can't control. I do wish more of the smaller breeders would actually breed cattle instead of just replicate.

    Can’t find an old picture

I believe it's Don Cagwin. You'll find the picture in the upcoming Leveldale sale catalog on page 20 where Cagwin's cattle are featured.

Warrior's win seems to have marked part of the turning point. It's always interesting to see how some of these genetics mesh over time even while being concentrated. I have a couple flush mate heifers with at least 9 shots of T90 in them and they're showing no signs of those frame scores.

I'm almost sure it was there in the past, but I do not have a screenshot. There are a lot of bulls with blank spots in their pedigrees right now, so who knows what's going on.

I do not believe you have listed the breed that should be attributed to that piece of his pedigree. I'd really like to know why the database is missing large pieces of pedigrees that used to be there. Some very popular bulls now have blank pedigrees.

Was Vantage as wide at the ground as he appeared? What was his hip and pin width like?

Haplotype diversity of the myostatin gene among beef cattle breeds, 2003

I watched several pigs die as a result of it as well. 30 plus years later, maybe even 100+ in some cases, and they're still sorting the resulting stress gene out of the populations. Some of those populations were never even supposed to have had the source of that gene in them. Odd how that...

Haplotype diversity of the myostatin gene among beef cattle breeds, 2003

I think most people over look this. Not only is it a false phenotype, but it is also affecting the numbers. The system can't comprehend that the marbling and rib eye are unusual for a reason or that the ww an yw might out perform the prediction. Throw a half a dozen carriers into the breed...

Attention Shorthorn Gurus and Furus - old bull pics!!!

I added a couple bulls to the tank and missed out on a couple others. I was surprised how much people were willing to pay for the bulls I didn't get. It would be interesting to know where some of the volume buys went and how they plan on using it. This bred heifer is out of an Ultimate Type cow.
