    OCC Great Plains

I keep saying I'll use one of my straws of him on one of my shorthorn donors, but never do. I know it was done back in the day with great success, but no one wanted to pay for them so the F1s simply lived out their days in silence.

    Cattle with small brains.

I've always believed docility comes at a cost. My horned cattle often appear smarter than my polled cattle. I occasionally wonder what being around cows does to the human brain. I no longer wonder what being around too many other humans does to the brain. It's obvious.

    The cover of Shorthorn Country

I wish I had their sale average. I expected people to complain about her nose. The calf appears to be a fairly tightly line bred animal. The Shorthorn Country appears to be nearly begging for high quality pictures that can be used on the cover of the magazine on a regular basis. I wish more...

    UK breeding cattle sale

Am I correct in believing these "show calves" are actually judged by the abattoir buyers, or their connections, at the shows and that's what drives their more extreme lean meat phenotype?

    dutch belted

The Hoffman family in Illinois has been preserving a grazing herd of dutch belted and milking shorthorns for several decades. They also offer a fair amount of semen on bulls of both breeds.

    Proposed Colorado livestock legislation

Cattleman's Congress has already scheduled their next show to overlap with the National Western's dates. Oklahoma has committed to supporting the show and claimed it brought in something crazy like 40 million dollars to their economy. A choice now exists, so people will be able to speak with...

It sells in various online sales in small amounts on a regular basis if you want to try to watch for a bargain. Minnaert usually has a few straws of him in most of his sales and it looks like he's having one tomorrow.

Breeding with Sexed Semen Timing question

You will see a significant improvement if you delay your timing. ST calls 16-24 acceptable and 18-22 ideal. I've been targeting 18 the last two years with good success.

    New Herdsire

I recently found this Muridale Robert daughter with a 69lb Hot Commodity heifer calf. After a few days of observing, it's obvious he did not hurt the cow line's mothering instincts. I sure wouldn't let average growth epds scare me away from trying him.

    New Herdsire

It looks like I'm one of the few with a daughter in the states. While I did not sample him for growth reasons, her performance was definitely not an issue. If she grows up to look like the pictures of his mature daughters while still being in production at that age I'll wish I had 99 straws left...

Biss element 79 what ever happened

There's probably not a lot of people who can even answer the question. The show ring was being pushed in a certain direction when he raised to the top and I don't believe he really fit the mold. The wrong prefix and semen price probably kept him from being used in all the herds that would have...

Eionmor Gus 80C vs Eionmor Ultra 8C

I have some 30b, 80c, and 85c and have always been curious about how the three brothers were different from each other. I have plans to use one of them on a Super Flag daughter in the future, but have yet to figure out which one might leave the most rib in one.

Give Trans Ova a call. Prices have came down a little, but it's still a pretty good sized chunk of change with a healthy amount of risk involved.
