It's been a couple years since I've watched the clark county fair (ohio) but there were cattle that won all winter that would get left standing there, and it wasn't because they were bad. there's money in that county. there's also some bad ones too though.

foam works well if you haven't "maxed" them out already. if they don't have bunch of glue in the leg already,then it works fine but if you have a hard haired one that you already used a bunch of tail in, then you are better off breaking down and washing their legs on the way back from the show...

I think this is the greatest argument of all. how many full sibs are just as good as each other? why does a clone get judged if their calf isn't as good as the original? it's hard to get those genetics to line up right twice. that's when you know you have something special when they do.

holstein steers are some of the most consistent for sure. that comes with the breeding though and the fact that just about all of them are related... it may be easier to guarantee profit feeding out dairy beef because they are so consistent but i don't know if the profit margin is as great as...

calf is fine and runs around. he's straight fronted too and his "good" back leg isn't right either. it's a shame because he is a stout sucker. here's a picture. calf walks on the front hoof and it appears that there is another leg that is opposite facing to the main leg.

really looked forward to one of the matings this year, and the cow decided to give the calf a little extra bone. so much that it has what looks like two sets of bones in the back leg that are fused together under the skin. it has 2 hooves on that leg as well. major bummer.

i'm not sure where this post is going. there is no such thing as a throw away calf that is alive and well with feeder cattle selling for over 1.50 a pound. the most important quality in a cow is that she breeds and has a live calf. you can't sell a dead one and you can't sell a calf if the cow...

kinda surprised he didn't go to denver. wonder why he didn't make it. had the chance to see him as a baby but a torrential downpour kinda stopped that. his sibs looked pretty cool though. i liked how consistent the set was and even a maternal sib bull to their mother was pretty good too.

I think there were two bulls with the same name that year. also, n charge and tycoon were full brothers in blood but out of different cows. very similar breeding though.

i think they do something like this at the maine jr nationals for the she's a lady futurity deal. at least as far as i understand from how someone tried to explain it to me. i've never seen it as it always is the same week as the shorties.
