    Please evaluate this slick steer.

    Just keep feeding him! I think he looks pretty good. Might be time to start thinking about some extra barley in his ration to give him a smooth, firm finish. I'd also get his feet done by May 1, and then maybe reevaluate them about 30-40 days out.

    I can find a few Red Diamond progeny pics somewhere I'm sure. He is fantastically consistent and we're so happy with his daughters. I'll post a Deception calf picture or two now though, even though they are a bit younger than those you posted Mark. They are full sibs to one another however.

    Show Coat

    I sure think it is. We use it on all of our best ones.

    So I want to know if Simmental, Limousin, and Maine Anjou are finished as well? You'd have a hard time going back more than 3 generations back without finding outside influence, let alone 7 or 8. I maintain that Shorthorns retain more perceived breed character than any of those mentioned...

    Semantics. So what is your definition of a real Shorthorn? Is anything with Irish or Scotch heritage out?

    When to start using show coat

    Start today, it'll still help. Best way to use it is only using soap on your calf once or twice a week, getting them dry, and do not blow the product in. Let it dry under fans and once it dries you can blow them. We spray it in, comb, roto brush, comb the lines out, and wash/dry the next one.

    If the Irish mutts can be called PB and remembered fondly, then surely Red Reward can be too. Also, I want very little to do with the Shorthorn cattle from 50 years ago. They're the reason we focused on Angus until the 90s.

    Structurally sound shorthorns

    I think they're all questionable on structure but have had the best luck with AOD. That semen is worth more than all the rest that you have put together, however.

    I don't think I've ever made better cattle for either the show ring or the commercial cattlemen than I am right now, and we're using Red Reward, Red Demand, Hot Commodity, and Deception almost exclusively. Best two calves I've ever had born are a fall 2015 Deception and an early 2016 Red...

    What is your most used product

    SHOW COAT All day. Every day. I was so skeptical until I saw some of the results firsthand. Take your sales pitch to the classifieds.

    Shorthorn cow

    Depends on a few things. But just off the top of my head, JTM on here had a super nice cow for sale with a heifer calf at side.

    Shorthorn dispersal

    Not to mention their best two cow families are coveted by everyone in the breed and have nothing to do with Sullivan breeding. Max Rosa was an afterthought before 310 went into production, and Dream Lady 420 brought that particular cow family back to the forefront of the show cattle elite. I...

    CSF Evolution HC

    Semen is available from Cornerstone Farms. 10 unit minimum purchase I believe. I've heard good things about early calf reports, we're planning on using him some this year.

    Custom raising calves

    I sent you an email, OP. We are very much interested in putting in embryos remotely.

    Looking for Shorthorn Embryos

    I'd say there are some good suggestions so far. I'd also suggest looking into the Schrag program. Our lead donor cow came to us as an embryo from Schrags.  We've got embryos from several of our donors that we would sell, including some out of the aforementioned Schrag produced female. I also...

    When a bull and a cow click

    Incredible mating. Matt Avila is doing a bang up job out there. We're very lucky to be working with such a good program.

    Sullivan's Shock

    It's very clean and non oily. I prefer to do almost all of my clipping with nothing in their hair, but I used a bit of shock at NWSS and it did a good job of keeping the hair up for the duration of the clipping. I used it just like the directions say and it worked just like it said it would.

    Sullivan's Shock

    It's the real deal. Have used it at several shows since this beginning of 2016, including NWSS and I think it works great.

    $ 53k steer / MAB / Reg Shorthorn

    I don't think that steer is going to change many breeding programs. He's certainly not the first MAB x Shorthorn to look cool as a baby. Tim Schaefer sold a heifer out of a Trump or El Dorado a couple years ago for a pile of money. It's a well documented cross that makes excellent prospect...

    $ 53k steer / MAB / Reg Shorthorn

    Care to explain? You're being a little vague. One $50,000 steer isn't going to change anything.
