Genex teaches most of the ones in my area.  I think their website lists scheduled classes.  Our rep has taught classes when we would get enough interest in the area.

The thing about breeding cows is that it takes practice. It always takes me about 15 cows to get the hang of things. If you breed 100 cows a year you get the hang of things. It can be a dark place in those cows.  It takes practice and attitude.jmo

Dozer45 -- Schleining Genetics in Ault CO puts on 4 or 5 clinics a year between Ault and Lamar and there is a guy in Sterling who puts on a couple a year too.  Probably a long way for you, but might be as close as you get.  Seems I recall the clinics usually start on a Thurs night and go until Sunday.

Make sure you attend a 3 day one instead of a 2 day one.

It takes a long time to get good. They had one here a few weeks ago and only one guy there got to were he could get it every time. I plan on attending another one this fall so I can actually get the hang of it because I REALLY want some AI sired calves. They told us to practice on our open cows at home but my oldest cow is 7 so I don't have too many opens right now (that I know about anyway).

Did you do the Springfield one? I sent my husband fall of 2008, and his first calf hit the ground in April. We only have 8 females, so not a lot of ability to practice.  This spring he has a conception rate of 60% (3 of 5 stuck, the other two took two AI tries). He highly recommended the ABS school..... lots of sale cattle to practice on.
