Hi everyone, I don't know everyones political views but the email I am going to share sure does scare me. Read it and pass it on!!!

Subject: About Obama/ more information that we must open our eyes too!

A friend from church sent this to me. N.

This is from Billy Sam Elliott (recently retired Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Manager). I asked him if he knew these people personally and his reply is:

Celeste and Loren Davis are Missionaries in Africa and can shed some light on one of our Presidential candidates.

Celeste was married to my (Billy Sam Elliott) first cousin and is the mother of his three children. She remarried Missionary Loren Davis at Woodville and has been involved in his ministry ever since. They have made numerous mission trips to Africa and actually had their DC-3 shot down on one of their trips.I haven't seen Celeste in several years, but I communicate with her by e-mail frequently.

Subject: Obama and Kenya connection

Dear Billy Sam,
Thanks for sending out an alert about Obama. We are living and working in Kenya for almost twelve years now and know his family (tribe) well. They are the ones who were behind the recent Presidential election chaos here. Thousands of people have been displaced by election violence(over 350,000) and I don't know the last count of the dead. Obama under "friends of Obama" gave almost a million dollars to the opposition campaign who just happened to be his cousin, Raila Odinga, who is a socialist trained in east germany . He has been trying to bring Kenya down for years and the last president threw him in prison for trying to subvert this country! December 27th elections brought cries from ODM (Odinga Camp) of rigged election. Obama and Raila speak daily. As we watch Obama rise in the US we are sure that whatever happens, he will use the same tactic, cyring rigged election if he doesn't win and possibly cause a race war in America

What we would like you to know is what the american press has been keeping a dirty little secret. Obama IS a muslim and he IS a racist and this is a fullfilllment of the 911 threat that was just the beginning. Jihad is the only true muslim way. We have been working with them for 20 years this july! He is not an american as we know it. Please encourage your friends and associates not to be taken in by those that are promoting him. It is world wide jihad. All our friends in Europe are very disturbed by the mulsim infiltration into their countries. By the way. His true name is Barak Hussein Muhammed Obama. Won't that sound sweet to our enemies as they swear him in on the Koran!
God Bless you.

Pray for us here in Kenya . We are still fighting for our nation to withstand the same kind of assult that every nation, including America , is fighting. Takeover from the outside to fit the new world order. As believers, this means we will be the first targets. Here in Kenya , not one mosque was burned down, but hundreds of churches were burned down, some with people in them, burned alive.

Jesus Christ is our peace but the new world order of Globalism has infiltrated the church and confused believers into thinking that they can compromise and survive. It won't be so. I will send you a newsletter we sent out in February documenting in a more cohesive manner what I've tried to say in a few paragraphs.
Love, Celeste

I really respect the work that missionaries do, but that certainly doesn't make them political experts.

Here is an exerpt from his webpage:

Barack Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4th, 1961. His father, Barack Obama Sr., was born and raised in a small village in Kenya, where he grew up herding goats with his own father, who was a domestic servant to the British.

Barack's mother, Ann Dunham, grew up in small-town Kansas. Her father worked on oil rigs during the Depression, and then signed up for World War II after Pearl Harbor, where he marched across Europe in Patton's army. Her mother went to work on a bomber assembly line, and after the war, they studied on the G.I. Bill, bought a house through the Federal Housing Program, and moved west to Hawaii.

It was there, at the University of Hawaii, where Barack's parents met. His mother was a student there, and his father had won a scholarship that allowed him to leave Kenya and pursue his dreams in America.

Barack's father eventually returned to Kenya, and Barack grew up with his mother in Hawaii, and for a few years in Indonesia. Later, he moved to New York, where he graduated from Columbia University in 1983.

The College Years
Remembering the values of empathy and service that his mother taught him, Barack put law school and corporate life on hold after college and moved to Chicago in 1985, where he became a community organizer with a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment.

The group had some success, but Barack had come to realize that in order to truly improve the lives of people in that community and other communities, it would take not just a change at the local level, but a change in our laws and in our politics.

He went on to earn his law degree from Harvard in 1991, where he became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review. Soon after, he returned to Chicago to practice as a civil rights lawyer and teach constitutional law. Finally, his advocacy work led him to run for the Illinois State Senate, where he served for eight years. In 2004, he became the third African American since Reconstruction to be elected to the U.S. Senate.

I don't know a whole lot about Obama, but you can't make those assertions in that e-mail because his father was from a certain country.  Honestly, I'd worry more about what kind of person his mother was and how she might have influenced his core principles since he obviously spent most of his time with her.  What she did was pretty rebellious from her background for that era.  His father obviously had a lot of "get up and go" to get from Kenya to college.

I think e-mails like that are what make conservative Christians (of which I count myself) look bad.

All that being said, I'm not sure who I'd vote for between him and Hillary.  Both aren't nearly as bad as they are made out to be.  All of these people aren't the idiots the other side likes to make each out to be.  I do have some friends in the Army who have served as escorts to Hillary on some Iraq trips a while back that thought she was pretty chicken**** with how she treated those that were helping her on a daily basis.

I'll probably vote for McCain.  I tend to like things down the middle.  I can't stand the conservative right just as much as I can't stand left coast liberals.

one doesn't need to use information to be worried about obama.  one only has to reconcile his record with his words.

his voting record is present most of the time, and he has written very vew laws that bring about consensus and change.  this can only mean that we can only get change if he is president and disbands congress, as he has said, we need to change washington, and no one seems willing to vote for anyone else other than someone who will bring home the bacon.

americans seem unwilling to consider that their interests are being undermined by both democrats and republicans, and that the nanny state of incremental intolerance is taking over.

to me, obama, when obama has to actually write down a policy and get it voted on and passed, he has shown to be in stark contrast to his rhetoric which is very well practiced to have absolutely no stand on any issue.  he is the best chamelion, the others try and do it too, after all, no one likes reality, and if the moderators would ever just get down to specific words and get them to say yes or no, equivalent to voting yes or no, or in obama's case present, which allows him to have it both ways, america would be better off seeing the candidates be held accountable for specific language.  but for some reason, they seem obssessed with minutia.

all this nonsense can be solved at the local level with representation that brings a little more diverse representation into local government and focuses less on spanking laws, who gets to use the word marriage, who can pass on what assets at what percentage, feral cats, and focus more on diverting that energy to commerce.  remove commerce from the equation, and you will have socialism.  the danger is, that about 40% of the population seems to want communism and it's growing more and more with each generation and influx of immigrants, both legal and illegal.  when capitalism is gone, who will stand up to group think (facism)?

i agree with chambero about the whole christianity perspective as if that's sufficient for credibility.  that's a form of facism as well.

to me, the biggest danger is the complete and total lack of comparing and contrasting ideas in our education system.  it's become an advocacy center, almost a religion itself, with almost no room for criticism.  when criticism is not allowed, one could say that it is a religion, as religions don't deal well with criticism and relies on "upper management" to resolve discrepancies or explain black boxes.  that's not to say faith is a bad thing, but saying, hey i'm a christian, obama is not is pretty much a much weaker argument than anything out of obama's mouth.  it's pretty much circular reasoning.

I don't question his childhood or young adult life. I question his ideas for "change" and his relationships that he keeps. I for one don't believe the government can run health care. The government cannot run anything efficiently. Every major entitlement program that the government has is a major fiasco. I don't like either of the 2 democrat candidates because I believe both of them will try and lead us into socialism which i don't want. McCain is not that far behind in the race to socialism but he is lesser of the 3 evils so will probably get my vote.

this thread is why i put up the friedman video.  i want people to draw lines of distinction, rather than saying we need change (obama), a new direction (clinton), nothing (mccain).

Any political candidate that talks about "change" and "empowerment" triggers my gag reflex.  Our system is intentionally set up to make change very hard - which in the grand scheme of things is probably a very good thing.  Nobody is really going to change anything at a national level by themselves.  Life won't be much different for any of us regardless of who wins.  Congress really runs things.  I'd rather have a good senator from my state than a good president.  A presidents main job to me is serve as an example of leadership - not micromanagement.  That's why some of our best ones (or at least well received ones) were generals.

The most disappointing thing about Bush to me has been his 180 degree difference as president compared to what he was as governor.  When he was governor down here, he actually had a lot of support from democrats and republicans.  Before him, I seem to remember Ann Richards (D) was pretty well liked by both.  Our current guy, not so much.  I'll always believe that Bush realized the impossibility of getting buy in at a national level based on his dad's experience and just said "d*** the torpedos" but underestimated the violent backlash that caused among the population.

Is this an election year? I seem so uninformed about issues. Since early Jan., you can't tell it's an election year here in Iowa.

I just want the media to cover something else besides the election.  Is anyone is as tired of it as I am.

I agree with the above that change happens very slowly if at all in our federal goverenment.  "Those of us who live outside "THE BELTWAY" just don't seem to understand the government."  And I am quoteing a friend of mine from college that now lives in "THE BELTWAY"  The government has to take care of us because we are unable to make informed and rational decision for ourselves.

I have never voted for anyone just because he is a democrat or a republican.  I try to vote for the individual and I honestly have issues with all three candidates so I will be voting for the candidate that will do the least harm if that's possile. :D

I'm really sick of all of it. I'm also a lil scared that if he gets in the hole country is going to be in trouble. I also don't think its right that he won't wear a american flag pin. if you don't like it get out of here don't run for office of any kind. At least McCain has fought for our country and loves it.......

i'm concerned about obamas voting records as well as the people he associates with. i've read that some of his chicago connections are 'questionable'

i'm also scared of the influence his wife will have over him.

THIS is probably scary.  Obama has a blogger whose name is Sam Graham-Felsen and he wrote this in 2006 from a paper titled "what's really happening in France".  it was published in the may/june 2006 volume of socialist viewpoint.    he didn't write the lower text, but the magazine he published the below link has this to say about socialism.
http://www.socialistviewpoint.org/mayjun_06/mayjun_06_03.html

I just returned from Paris, where I spent four days with the leaders of the student movement against the new employment law. I got a bird's eye view of the whole operation, and I'd like to clarify a few things that the mainstream media has gotten completely wrong.

here's a who we are from the above "socialistviewpoint" magazine.  he didn't write the lower text, but the magazine he was published inhas this to say about socialism.  i'm guessing he couldn't get published in another magazine, perhaps something named "capitalistviewpoint" or something similar.  ASSOCIATIONS MEAN SOMETHING.  what this is i don't know, but it's not zero.

The Socialist Workers Organization was formed to advance the revolutionary Marxist political program in the United States. Our members are long time active participants in the socialist and labor movements. We agree with Karl Marx that society is divided into social classes whose interests are irreconcilable.
The capitalist ruling class of the United States exercises a virtual dictatorship not only over American society, but also over the entire world. This capitalist class rule is the basic cause of the poverty, wars, and the degradation of the natural environment.
We advocate workers' power to solve the pressing problems that plague our society--homelessness, hunger, AIDS, the lack of health care for those who can't afford it, the poor quality and lack of resources for public education and other public institutions, and the destruction of the environment.
We believe that people have the human right to freedom, justice, and sharing of all the resources available for the makings of a good life. This means the right to jobs, decent housing, food and health care, and every aspect of education, clean water, air, and earth.
Workers power is the answer!
Working people are the overwhelming majority of the population and the ruling capitalist class is only a handful. They hold a monopoly over the media and the institutions of culture that create "public opinion" -- the printed and electronic mass media, as well as all public and private educational institutions. In the final analysis, however, capitalists rule by military and police force and violence.
To break the stranglehold of the capitalist minority over all of society, workers need their own political institutions. Workers and their unions need to break definitively with Democrats, Republicans, and other capitalist parties, all of which are dedicated to preserving and advancing the capitalist system of social, economic and political injustice.
Socialism, the ownership and democratic control of the means of production by the working class, and the removal of profit from the system of production, is the aim of Socialist Viewpoint, which reflects the political views of the Socialist Workers Organization. Socialism is the prerequisite for the next stage in human development that will end class oppression and exploitation for all time.
