Tonight was my nieces first night in the barn.  She is four and her first show is in 3 weeks.  She will go in the ring with her mother, my sister.  When she got out there we thought she would help comb a little maybe blow a little and then play the rest of the time.  Boy were we wrong!  She combed just about the entire show side of the heifer and then we basically had to pull the blower out of her hands.  The entire time, myself her mom and her dad had the biggest smiles on our faces.  It was so much fun to see her working with the cattle and be with the family in the barn.  Showing cattle might not be the cheapest hobby in the world but I'm not sure there is anything I would rather do with my family.

Pictures like these put it all in perspective. It's the nights just like the one you had with your sister and niece that make it all worth while, not what color ribbon she gets leaving the show ring. Thanks for sharing! Good luck!

You can't get a much more wholesome atmosphere than cattle work, imo.  I love her just getting in there and going to work!  A great family activity, for sure.  And, I can't ignore the apparently good natured heifer she's working on.  Bless the gentle ones!
