A couple of people asked for an update on some of our calves so I thought I'd post a couple new pictures.  It started raining(like that's something new) about the time I decided to take these so they're kind of dark.  The calves also have some mud on them but I'll send them anyway.  The two shorthorn are the Vortec X Myrtle Bo heifer we pictured a few weeks ago and her half brother out of Sonny and the same cow.  The heifer is seven weeks old and the bull calf is 5 weeks.  The third picture is a heifer out of our Calberta Paydirt cow and our bull (Trump X Augusta Pride 330H).  I thought you might like to see some distinctive markings!!

Gary Bob--the red& white heifer was born on 3/1 and weighed 80 pounds.  The red bull calf pictured is her ET calf out of Sonny--it was born on 3/16 and weighed 90#.
I guess I'm not complaining about her udder either--ideally I would like to see them perfectly level from front to back(she's a little lower in back)but she sure milks good and I've never had any problems with her from that standpoint.  Its a little bit decieving because the calf keeps the front quarters milked down better so the back two are usually carrying a little more wieght also.  Bottom line is I've probably had cows with more perfect looking udders that didn't produce nearly half as well as she does so I'm not reallly worried about it.
