I havent been on here for awhile....some have PM'd me to see if we were still alive.  Calving going full bore now.....lots of fun and weird combinations from the semen tank.  We have had a bunch of Rainmaker calves....all colorful and hairy.  Get this...we have been trying to get a good blue roan bull for a steer for years........got one, but it is a heifer!!!  All of the great colored appendix shorties are heifers.  Most of the reg. shorties are red.  Go figure.  We have a Final Solution heifer that was gargantuan, other than her all nice and in the 80 lb. range.  We also have had some Heat Wave 1, the best being out of an old Gelbvieh show heifer.  We have had some Red Hots and Monopolies.  The monopolies are great.  I will post some pictures this weekend.  Hope you are all well.......I would take some of justme's mud....too dry here.    ;D

UGH I hate to hear that about Final Solution. Dang it! I have one coming in a couple weeks. Cow is huge and looks absolutely miserable. I am thinking after all the stories I had better palpate her and check the size. :-\
Congrats on what sounds like an uneventful calving season. WOuld like to see the Rainmaker calves. Liked his picture.

I hate to tell you but she was 110#, but out of a big framed show heifer.....thought it would be ok, because it was a total outcross.  Didnt have to pull her, but....I couldnt straddle her.

The rainmakers so far are little and cute....but....I still would not use him on heifers.....just in case.    Let us know how it turns out!

I want to see that Heat Wave x Gelbvieh. I've always wondered how they would work bred to a clubby bull.

Klintdog, if you know of any Gelbvieh juniors wanting a steer for the 2010 Junior nationals, this may fill the bill.  We are surprized how clean necked he is for being half guppster.  I will try to get a picture when the wind stops.....!  Sign me cold and windy.

Cowz...I'll send you all the rain and mud you want gladly!  Of course...were just starting calving and all this crud moves in.  Glad calving is going well for you!  Hope ours gets going well too.  On a high note...I see green sprigs of grass poking thru and a whole gaggle of robins in my yard today!  The birds were singing beautifully today...hope there ready for the cold snap coming early this afternoon
