I used excel and created my own. It's taken several years to get it exactly how I like. I use it for the cattle and the showpigs. Beats the heck out of paper. I've got the program on my cell phone and sync it with the computer so it's always with me. Comes in very handy on the phone.

We run a 400 head cow calf operation in Florida. Several years ago I purchased CATTLE MAX at first it was OK but I use EXCEL more than anything. I use cattle max mainly to scan EID tags for the cows and calves.

I use Ranch Manager from http://www.lionedge.com

Easy to use, reasonably priced, and so far, great customer support. They have answered any and every question I have had. And updates every now and then too.

Same here, thought this looked really good and it does track embryos pretty good, but doesn't give me the reporting I need for calving, we went back to using Excel.

We use cattlemax but I agree with Jill I find it difficult to run the reports that I really use.  But like anything else it is usually garbage in garbage out.  Good record keeping is going to consume time no matter what format you use.

Sure glad to see that so many others are using Excel.  Over the years I have used several programs and a lot of them made cool looking reports and kept a lot of information but in the end I realized most of that information wasn't used and with 95% of my cows either registed with the AA or ASA I can get most of the information I need from them.

Any chance of some of you utilizing excel to share your programs/report?  I've tried to build a couple sheets, but haven't had a lot of luck getting my info where and how I want it.  A new perspective would be greatly appreciated.  PM me or send it to [email protected]

Thanks in advance.

I use a lot of my own  spreadsheets and tables too. I love the program I have, but there are some things it just doesn't do for me. But as as far as looking up an individual animal and anything to do with her in a second, Ranch Manager works great.

Most of my spreadsheets are things I can print out and keep a paper copy of. But if anyone wants to see them, I am quite willing to share. I have a number of different ones. Individual Animal, Calving, Breeding, ADG, Bulls, Medication, and several others.

If anyone is interested in seeing them, I am quite willing to email the sheets to them. Just PM me.
