We have had some nice days around here so I have been cleaning out the tack room in our trailer and getting organized for this years horse and cattle shows.  Last year I bought several of the folding chairs that go in a bag with a handle, the chairs you see everywhere, to leave in the trailer to take to shows.  After a year of shows they are junk, they are bent and broke.  We have some similar chairs that we take to the kids soccer games that seem to hold up well but they don't get near the abuse that the chairs in the trailer get.  It is time to replace the chairs and I am wondering if anyone has any suggetions for chairs.  I know a lot of people use the hard plastic chairs and they seem to work well but they take up a lot of room and are kind of bulky to carry around.  At times I think I should dig through grandmas shed and find some of the old alluminum chairs with the webbing that fold in half.  Anyone ever used the directors chairs, if so how do they hold up?

Hmmmm.........I've found the heavier duty chairs in a bag hold up a little bit better.
I wonder it anyone knows a place where you can have those types of chairs repaired. My daughter has won two that are embroidered with the year and what she won that we can't even use anymore. It is frustrating!!!

We have gone through a lot of chairs over the year. I am not sure what the anwer is but when space is an issue I would opt for something that stacks or folds.  We bought a few of the heavy plastic Adirondak style chairs a few years ago and they actually lasted better than the other styles that "bag" up.  My favorite chairs are the newer style reclining chairs that sit up straight like a chair but that you can tip back and sleep in. They are a little pricey but they have worked great and everyone fights over them for naps.  Kids can curl up in a sleeping bag and sleep in them plus they fold up nicely.  For the most part I guess my thoughts are that you are probably not going to find a chair that will withstand the rigors of show travel.  Just find some that make sense priceswise to just get you through the season.

I have never had a chair make it half way through a show season, but I have repaired quit of them with tobacco bailing twine. (thumbsup)

all I know is that I never used to travel without my canvas cot! We use director's chairs. Most have been door prizes & such. Just easy for me to carry.

I'm always happy if our chairs will make it through one summer.  One thing we did figure out is to buy very noticable and unique (think lime green and blue) chairs to try and prevent any thefts.

As you all know by now, I embroider.  I have a source for a heavier chair that is in a bag.  I really haven't had any complaints on these yet.  We have used them and they've held up great except when a heifer backed up and pooed in it.  Washed clean though! (lol)

We just bought some heavy duty bag chairs (from Menards) and we are having our logo stitched on the back. You can take the backs off with a screw driver to put the emroidered back on another chair if necessary.
