Hey guys, it's been a little CWAZY around here lately and I haven't really had any time to surf the Planet. Yes, we (Nelson Cattle Company/Gigolo Joe) are having a dispersal and if you go to the website for the Incredible Female Sale you can view the catalog. To answer a few of the questions. Yes, most of the females that we are offering are bred to Gigolo Joe. Many are bred to Nelson 26T2, our purebred "clean" Contender son.
Why are we dispersing? Well, you can read our letter at the front of the catalog on the website. To sum it up, we are losing our pasture for a few years due to the sale of some land to WalMart. They are moving dirt onto our land and there will be a serious lack of fences and grazing area. Since I solely manage the cow herd I just couldn't imagine trying to find pasture elsewhere and maintaining the level of management that I demand.
What are we going to do? Are you kidding? "Cow" runs through my veins. I bleed cow...well, mostly I think I bleed Orange but that's another story! LOL! Anyway, we plan on keeping up with our annual fall calf sale, Club Calf Paradise. We have had a lot of customers that have used Gigolo Joe or have purchased females from us in the past ask if they could consign calves. I don't think that we will be at a loss for top knotch calves to offer our past customers. I have about ten spring heifers that I am keeping, Gigolo Joe daughters as well as a handful of bred Gigolo Joe females, four recips and a couple of misfit pets. I am also keeping Gigolo Joe and Nelson 26T2 and will continue their promotion. The rumors about plastic surgery are a little exagerated I believe! LOL!! I do think that I may talk my beloved into a trip someplace warm for a long weekend! AT the very least we will actually have an opportunity to hit the Denver show with no responsiblities except where we are going to eat and be merry.
Where are those hot Gigolo Joe heifers? Well, Mona's daughter that we sold on the sale is in Oklahoma. Sorry to anyone that wishes they owned her. Sorry to whomever has to show against her. However, cheer up. You can bid on her mother or sisters next saturday as they are selling on our sale. Mona is carrying a full sibling to that heifer! I am not going to feel bad for you if you miss another opportunity.
Is it going to be a sad day for Juli? Yes and no. The day that I took pictures I realized that it marked the last time for a lot of things. We have spent a lot of years designing a group of cows that we are very proud of. I will be very heavy hearted as I slap the last one on the butt as she jumps on somebody elses trailer. I am excited and happy everytime I get a phone call or see some young family with a teenager that is looking to find some great females to start their own herd. That was me a few years ago...ok, more than just a few...but non-the-less I remember starting out in this. I feel great knowing that I can be proud of each cow that goes into somebody elses herd. Thanks everyone that has requested catalogs, offered support, attempted to lift my spirits. I am actually very excited for the sale and I look forward to touching base with all who are attending.
Is Gigolo Joe going to Cancun? Well, no but he is at the next best place most of the time...Nichols Cryogenetics or at home at Nelson Cattle Company where he gets the next best thing to Cabana girls waiting on him hand and hoof.
