I saw this bull advertised in the shorthorn country.SCSP DJS Free 4 ALL(AR46507). He was listed as 7-8ths with draft pick, cunia, sonny, double vision in his pedigree. He is th free and pha free? his bw epd was almost plus 5. I guess you could color me sceptical on his listed 85# bwt but what is the story on him? I wonder what his frame is?

I'm tempted to try his flushmate on some clean black Heat Seeker daughters

AJ - Scale said 85 lbs. Not saying he is calving ease just saying he weighed 85 lbs. His other flush mates were between 80-92 all ET calves on mature recips.

Ad says 82lbs

Ad says 85 lbs., website says 82lbs.  Minor details from some awfully good people, that know a good one when they have one.  I would never put much emphasis on an ET birth weight.  Do some homework and see for yourself what those flushmates and the cow has done in the past.  The past almost always gives us a good indication of the future. He looks to be a cool calf.

He sure does look good. I hope some folks give him a try this year so we can see what he can do!

Pretty interesting pedigree. It would be cool if he is a great breeding bull since he is clean yet has all the popular breeding in his pedigree.

That's what I was thinking. If his heifers can stack up with his steers, he may be one to really watch in the next couple years.

Doesn't make any difference to me, just pointing out an error.  I would put 0 emphasis on an ET birth weight, an ET should have a higher BW as (here anyway) those embryo's go into the top producing recips.  Bull is a beautiful color!

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the BW thing. I don't understand how your top producers will give you higher BW. I could see a higher WW, because she milks better, but her genetics are not playing a part in the BW..JMO.

I was scratching my head on that one too. We haven't had a terrible amount of ET calves, but they don't seem to be any different than their natural born siblings on birthweight regardless of recip. I am not always that bright, someone might have to explain that one too me.
