Nice. Is that another one on the right or is it a crow?

crow.  the eagle has been around a few times, sometimes even right outside the sliding glass window.

In the winter Bald Eagles nest all around our farm.  In March when we are calving cows I have seen as many a 13 in the field cleaning up after birth.  They get so used to the feed truck we can drive right up next to them.  When they take flight it is a impressive sight.  They are huge birds.

It is so impressive to be so close to these amazing birds.  We are lucky that their numbers seem to be on the upswing.  You used to never see them in the middle of Iowa....you had to go to the Mississippi River to catch a glimpse. However, the last few years, have seen more and more of them around creeks and rivers in the middle of the state.

My late uncle ran a hay operation in Yerington, NV. We were driving down one of many dirt roads on the farm and saw what looked like to short people in trench coats walking down the road, as we got closer it was 2 golden eagles walking down the road. They had been eating the pile if gophers that one of the hands had trapped in the field, I think they were just to full to fly.

our eagle visitors are back.  just saw one snag a ground squirrel.  there is a pair that are nearby nearly every day now.  we also saw some burrowing owls which wildlife experts are keen on protecting along our fence row.  supposedly there are around only 10,000 nesting pairs in the world.
