My headgate is an older self catching if the cow keeps moving thru. My question is how much neck clearance in the catch do you need for a full grown black angus bull, 5 years old? My opening moved out to second notch for cows is about 6-1/2” with pins in first hole. If I leave pins out of gate it will widen a tad bigger to almost 7”. Is this enough for the bull you think. When gate is wide open to exit it is about 24-25”. It works fine for the cows but I don’t want to cut off the bulls air if it’s not. It is a Priefert (misspelled) head gate and works great. Just fishing to see what every else thinks. Thanks.
