Hello im new here,  have been looking at this website for a while and decide to register, and i finally got it done after trying 8 million differnet user names. well i little about me. I have been showing cattle for a few years but grew up with commercail cattle, and been showing pigs for quite a few years. But any ways i have started my own herd of maines. I am also interested in simmys, shorthorns, and chi. I have a few questions to start off with.

I and another guy are trying to buy a club calf bull, to collect off of.  I have talked to some people, and they said that normally denver spots on the hill are filled like 2 years in advance. And that it normally costs about 25k-30k to promote the bull. But what i was wondering is do you think i could promote the bull very well even though i wouldnt be taking him to denver(since all spots are filled)???  If i did with a bunch of ads in magazines, websites, just mailing out his picture and info to people, and the internet?

Also I have a heifer that has ringworm, and a couple warts, i have a show i want to go to but if they have ring worm or warts they cant be shown. She has had them for about 2 week, the ringwrom is starting to turn a lite pink color, and the warts dont look much better. I have 13 days until my show, is there a possibilty i could get rid of it??
Thanks a whole lot for your time reading my post

As for your questions, I would suggest you invest the time and browse through the posts that look relevant to your questions. There is an abundance of knowledge to be had in them. Even if they don't answer your questions directly you will learn something. But I am sure you will find that the subjects have been covered or will help you formulate an even more precise question.

Good to have you and hope you find much success with your new herd.

As stated in the previous post before I invested a lot of money in a bull and the expense of promoting him
I would do a lot of leg work and research before jumping in head first!  You will notice in the ads of heavily
used bulls that they almost all have one thing in common, at least one of the listed owners is a nationally
recognizeable name in the cattle industry.  Now, granted when you look through the ads you will see
some ads for some pretty good bulls but they don't have any big names on the owners list and the chances
are that will be the last time you ever see that bull again.  I am not saying you can't be the exception I am
just saying that the odds are against you.  Good Luck!

There is a really easy method to get rid of warts that I use, and all you need is fishing line. Just tie the fishing line in a knot around the wart pull it tight and the wart should pop right off.

Does that get rid of the head that is down in the skin, or do they grow back?  Interesting, never heard of that.

It gets rid of it all the way down to the skin. I haven't ever had one grow back.

Some people around here are making a deal with the promoters for a percentage of the semen sales, they take the bull & promote him. I've heard that they usually get 25 to 33 % of sales. May be worth thinking about if you know any good promoters in your area. That way you'll know if the bulls good enough to promote, ( using an experienced eye), without very much money out of your pocket. If you are new to this game, might be an option to look @. You would learn alot as you go.
