Get some Downey fabric softener and put a capful or so in a rinse bucket and pour over them. Then brush down with a rice root then forward with a comb and then blow blow blow forward.

Take a scrub brush and comb all the hair everywhere down then foward. Then go over it with  a skip tooth comb however you want it to lay. Thats what we've had luck with. Then when you are blowing it out use the scrub brush to brush it foward.

Also..
  Use conditioner when washing.
Comb then blow in show foam if you can't get any volume or lift.

dont know if its just my heifer but when your blowing go slow because if you accidently blow it wrong there will be a nasty little cowlick that only another bath will remove. This can be a good thing or bad thing. The hair will stay where you put it just as long as you put it where you want it.
good luck  <cowboy>

Belly line: Rice root brush, go back with the turn of the belly. Don't blow until you get that worked out. Work, work, work the hair with a brush. If the body hair is out of wack, work it down and forward, move it forward and up slowly but surely. Easy does it.
