Just wondering how many people out there don't have a home phone & just use their cell phone? My accountant is telling me that I should just drop my home phone, with what I spend on cell phones. I geuss I'm just old fashioned & can't see doing it. But I was wondering pro's & cons, besides not having the $89/month bill.

I haven't had a home phone for 4 years.  I doubt that I will ever go back. (unless I get a fax) I always have my cell around so it is ok.  Oh and if you are in a rural at all area don't use Vonage.  My parents got it.  We have a Wichita phone no. and area code and we are about 130 miles from Wichita.  That and the service isn't that great either from what I have seen.

We do not have a phoneline. We got our cable bundled with high speed internet (wireless) and dropped the phone option. We all have cell phones and with as much as we are on the go it makes more sense, especially from a business standpoint, to just give out the cell #s.

Just cell and we have cable for internet.  It makes it easier because my cell is always on me.

When I lived in town I had a cell and cable internet. Out at the ranch our cell service is spotty, at best, so we have a land line out here. With my wife being a teacher she needs to have a half-way reliable phone so parents and students can reach her. Plus around here being listed in the phone book is actually pretty important when it comes time to move some bulls.

We have a home phone but it is forwarded 100% of the time to my husbands cell, it never rings in the house.  We have a construction company and keep it just for the phone book listing and fax machine.

We tested for two months not using our home phone.  We just hooked the answering machine directly to the home line for that time.  The only calls we received on our land line were telemarketers and salesmen.  We used that time to get family used to calling us on our cells.  We finally discontinued our land line and run our internet on Verizon wireless.  We love it.  My elderly parents have our cell numbers programmed into their phones. That was the only reason I didn't want to give up the land line.  These days if somebody new wants to find you they can Google you easier than look you up in a phone book anyway.  I was extremely skeptical about ending our land line but I am very happy now.  Saves us money and headache.

we dropped our landline because it was so undependable. I had life line attached at one point & it didn't work half the time. Now we have DSL for internet & both have cell phones. It's been cheaper for us in the long run using certain plans.
The farm still has a land line & a fax line.

i think we pay about $10/mo for our land line.  we keep it because we are in earthquake country and if cell towers go out, which they have, ground lines usually work and or will get fixed first.  it also helps with electricity if you are on a grid with a fire department.  those get priority to restore power.

I only have a cell phone as well. My internet is wireless so no land line needed. It is cheaper for me to have the cell as it is at least $25/mo for the land line use plus your usage bundles. I wanted to put my cell phone in the phone book but they were going to charge me $12/year and I didn't think it was worth it since I would then be getting all those telemarketers calls.

We've got little kids who don't have cell phones so we keep our landline just so we can reach them when they are home by themselves.  If you don't have kids or elderly people calling you, there isn't much reason to keep a landline.

We still have a land line.  At this time we plan on keeping it because my business requires a fax, plus with  internet & cable TV bundling, it makes it pretty inexpensive..
