most places that sell livestock equipment will have them or you can order them online for a few bucks I know Enasco has many different kinds, if you look up weaning rings you will find information on them. We use them and they work really well. We leave them on for a few weeks and they stop trying or the cows wont let them because they dont want to get poked by the ring. hope this helps

i had a two year old that would do this...oddly enough, she would only nurse off of her mother...anyway, we had to put a temporary ring in her because she was taking all the milk and the cows current calf wasnt  getting any...funny thing, when we weaned the calf...the heifer stopped doing it too....strange i know...but true story

we used one of these...i didnt want to put in something permanent...you have to make sure you get it really tight though...she did pull this one out once...and then i found a yellow plastic one that we put back in and it stayed till i took it out...

These cows always get started with this as weaned hfrs. Once in a while you will get a couple hfrs that just will not give it up -- never seen a steer keep it up.

I have had several nightmares over the years with these, and they are almost always ex-show hfrs most of the time, some times not though. Once they start, it is almost impossible to get them to stop for very long. I have even seen them lay down and nurse themselves.

I have always had a VERY good cure -- FEED the barn -- those folks don't care what they do. Unless she is the top cow here, she's outta here!

the plastic ones are a little cheaper than the metal ones.  The pointy ones seem to work better.  Here are some examples.

I guess it's like the difference between using smooth wire and barbed wire.
