I steer them unless i would use them myself.  Genetic package should be in demand and uniquie enough to bring a premium to his value as a steer.  I treat bulls as i would replacement heifers, i price them all, but i am prepared to keep them if they don't bring what i feel is their genetic/phnotypic value in my herd.  I have learned to error on the side of caution when thinking about keeping bulls, especially clubby bred stuff.  there is a limited market for them.  keep in mind that you sell that steer "as is" in the fall at weaning.  That bull will be with you until at least late winter (in most cases) and they don't eat for free!

At my house they are all steers, bulls require a different set up and handling than we are set up for and by the time you have kept them until they are producing, you generally don't make any more on them for your time and trouble, unless they are just fantastic or we are raising them for ourselves, they are steers.

Unless you have a well established bull market--"if in doubt, cut their nuts out!"

Pretty sure that you are trying to decide what to do with your Outer Limits bull calf. If he were mine and I was kind of thinking about having to go buy a bull for next year, I would keep him a bull. You're gonna put alot of miles on a vehicle looking for one that is any better and then have to give a minimum of $2500 to buy him. If he is enough of an out cross to most of your cows and his mother is good, I would leave his seeds in for now @ least. JMO.
