i'm not much of a hipster, but blake did a good job with you give love a bad name.  first song on idol i've seen that i thought the contestant could at least sing that song instead of the original performer at their concert and it would fly.

melinda, quit with the awe shucks, did i do ok?, and be the star or you won't be
lakisha, took too long to finally smile.  it looks good, but too late
chris, "dead, not alive"
jordan, no spark, better "pray" you never do that again
phil, out soon and not in a "blaze of glory"

I'm like you Knabe, I really liked Blake. Wouldn't have thought I would but he is so entertaining you just want to hear what he does next. He's the only one that really puts an effort into the songs by making them his own. To me that shows talent. I like Melinda but am also tired of her "oh my" routine. She's been told enough she's good get on w/ it.
The others are sub par. I like Jordin but she is getting over her head.  I'm ready for Chris & Phil to go home!

Red, looks like you got your wish!

I really liked everyone, but Chris and Phil were the logical choices for going home. This final group IMO are all good.

I would listen every week and wonder what they heard in Chris. I wasn't sure. He just sounded bubble gum to me. I think the final four are a strong group.

I predict Lakesha going home next.  She has a beautiful voice, but is it an "idol" voice????  I don't think so.  If she would win it would be like Fantasia...never to be heard of again except on Lifetime television.

Just Me believe it or not. fantasia won a Grammy for her R & B CD. She did not go main stream and is stayed in the R & B circles. Carrie and Kellie are on the radios that are pop or country. Fantasia is also working on Broadway.  I thought the same thing at first and til I started to look for her and caught her name on the Grammy awards.

You know OH, she has sold an amazing amount of records for the type of music she stuck with. Have to give her credit that she kept w/ her roots & didn't stray from what she was really good at.
I'm hearing a lot of Carrie's songs on the pop stations. Seems like she really crossed over.
My personal favorite so far though has been Chris Daughtery from last year. I listened to his CD the other day & really liked it! He'll go far!

I am with you. the one thing I will say is all these folks can really sing. I was really disappointed to hear Keith Urban live because he is not very good in person. I have to give idol credit for finding some outstanding talent. I use to listen to Nina Simone and Billie Holiday. Fantasia is reminescent of both of those ladies.
