More specifically guns and sheaths. Will be using sexed semen and embryos.

Being that we haven't AI'd anything since 2005 some things seem to have changed.

Should I buy 1/4cc and 1/2cc guns and appropriate sheaths or 1/2cc gun and the sheaths that will hold both size straws? Or the combination gun?

I have 2 guns, one for the each of them (pretty close to a line in tombstone movie by doc holiday lol). One 1/2cc gun and a 1/4 cc gun. Seperate sheaths for each gun as well.

Get 2 guns,  the sheaths will work on both size straws.  Where you get in trouble is 1/4 straw in 1/2 gun,  the straw will crush, you don't get cow bred and if it really goes bad,  you have to retrieve the straw from a very difficult place.  It happened to the neighbor.

I still use the first gun that I ever bought in 1987 for the 1/2cc straws. I have bought the combo gun to use for the sexed semen. You'll more than likely not be putting in your own embryos so I wouldn't spend anytime thinking about that.
There is a thread on here somewhere about the correct way to load a 1/4cc straw using a combo gun that I found to be very, very helpful, but for the life of me I cannot get the search function to work on here any longer so I gave up looking for it.

I'll try to do some more searching. Most threads were at least a few years ago, so I was hunting for fresh info
