So me and my family were talking at lunch but they think I am losing my mind.
Who knows who Morris the cat is? It was a commercial, is he a Canadian thing or does the US know him?

First of all, there is no such thing as a silly question. Morris the Cat is definitely one of the most recognized cats in American history. He was an orange tabby cat that starred in numerous advertisements back in the 70s and 80s for a cat food company. Later his fame and recognition grew when they added a voice to Morris, and he ended up getting some movie roles and more extensive advertising contracts. If memory serves me right, I think Morris the Cat also was a candidate for President of the United States, which was of course, a spoof. He appeared in some Canadian ads but he was more of an American legend.
