So I have a Sim/Angus steer I'm planing on showing in our county fair. His sire is ABS Macho, my calf is going to be 5 months on 5/2/2015 and on 4/29/15 he weighed 605 lbs. It's such a concern because on October 3rd he can't be over 900lbs because of our fair rules. He was castrated more then 3 weeks ago and his gain is still around 3 lbs a day on average, and he's ONLY IN PASTURE so taking him off feed is impossible. Is there any cattle feed supplements that slow down gain?

If you're not supplementing him, you don't have anything to worry about.  Your recently weaned calf will not gain 2 lbs per day over the next 150 days on grass pasture alone.

For weigh ins- hold water and feed the night prior. Do not water and feed that morning. That can shrink one tremendous amount. Also- what scales did you weigh him on? The same scales you will be using in Octorber? We used FDA certified scales prior to the fair this last year because we had access to them. Our weight and the fair weight was 85# difference fair was less or lighter. I know the local county fair is not as rigorous about their scales as someone who is inspected regularly basis. Just a thought.
