You need to have her eating more like 20-25 pounds of grain plus hay. And I would use a fat supplement you are way far behind, once you catch up you can slow down but at this point she needs all she can eat
Surely youve seen other show cattle-and would have to know shes not in good shape. You need to up her feed-AND GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS TO ADVISE ON HOW MUCH AND WHEN-it needs to be gradual:shed look closer to show rig having been out on grass O0
Bella and i just competed in our first fair of the season. It was my first time showing and i did get thrown in with seniors for showmanship, so i got 7th.
But for the other classes i got:
2nd in fitting
1st place Hereford senior calf
Champion Hereford Female
See hard work and not giving up does pay off. This was a good life lesson for you! Congrats (clapping) this is what the industry is supposed to be about!
Are you planning on keeping her? If so I would suggest you get her on some good pasture so she can get in better overrall condition. If she is done showing no need to make her fat at this point but she could use some cover or better body condition score to prepare her for breeding.
Hi, we have one more show the end of september. I co-own her with another person and she will be going back on pasture at his farm in october, until may. We are possibly breeding her soon.
