Have a steer i bought about 3 weeks ago, saw pics when he was little, and when i bought he had only been weined about 2 weeks.  I think he had been on a creep feed free choice (not sure) and now have been feeding twice a day like 8-9 lbs but with 2 other calve(all get that much in one feeder).  He seems depressed and doesn't look as good as before?  Is this normal?  He is always panting (has lots of hair and warm in south texas now) is very gentle always lays down and acts like he doesn't want to get up.  Have never seen a calf like this.  I really liked him when I got him but now not sure doesn't seem look as good now.  do calves go through a ugly stage?  think he's like a nov calf.  any help or suggestions would be great.

Are his ears droopy?  He may have pneumonia or other respiratory issues setting in.  The can go downhill fast.  Maybe a good time to call the vet.
