We had a very memorable Mother's Day. My daughter's show heifer from last year had been having contraction for about 1 1/2 days. We knew something wasn't right so we loaded her up in the trailer yesterday and drove her to the vet's. She had a twisted uterus. The vet did an amazing procedure. He laid the cow down on her side and lassoed her front legs together and then her back legs separately. He laid a pretty narrow board across her belly. While he stood on the board to keep the calf in the same place we pulled the ropes and flipped the cow onto her other side. It worked beautifully, it untwisted her uterus. Then he went to work pulling the calf which on top of everything else was breech. The heifer was born alive and she's beautiful. She has a perfect heart shape on her forhead and we named her Hope. The only color of calf we haven't had was a paint, now we have our little miracle calf.
We had AI'd her to Double Vision but according to her due date she would have been two weeks late. Because the calf was small we think our Bull RR Ricky Bobby is the sire. Our first calf from this bull and she looks amazing!
It was a spectacular Mother's Day!

We were unbelievable lucky. So glad we didn't try to pull the calf before we got her to the vet. Mom's exhausted but she loves her baby and we are all very grateful. I'm sorry for your loss.

.......sounds like your vets pretty handy as wel..................congrats jbarll

That's absolutely where the credit should go. He's just an old grouchy country vet who thinks I'm crazy because I love my cows but he knew exactly what to do and I give him 100% of the credit for why we have a healthy cow and calf now. Love you Woody Smith even though you are cranky!
