I was going through the pasture today and took a quick pic of my favorite cow. Shes 12 years old and has a calf at side. She is a Strictly Business x Mailman x Angus. I always thought she looked pretty dang good for 12 years old. Everyone that sees her in the pasture always guesses she is between 5-7 years old! She hasn't got any grain except a bite when we work the cows since she was a show heifer and to this day never had her feet trimmed. I am pretty proud of this cow. Sure going to miss her when shes gone. Were flushing her in Jan to Monopoly

Thank You!  <beer> Your not the only one who says that.lol

Got to love her udder at her age, I would flush her for replaments myself.

She looks wicked! I agree with both above posts; I would have never guessed her age, and either flush for heifers or save some of her daughters. If they all turn out like her, you'd have some serious money makers!!

Thank You. I really appreciate all the Great feedback!

Flush her for replacements and then breed her back to monopoly if she still looks like that at 12 I bet shes one of those special ones that makes it to 15! but you better start lookinf for daughters to replace her

Who would you flush her too? She doesnt work at all with the Ali bloodlines. And I dont want the steers to be throw-aways. TH status doesnt matter to me
we had discussed maternal perfection, dont know about the steers. guess we could IVF her..
also talked about dakota gold, granted he is a monopoly but his dam side looks good and i think it could be cool stters and th free heifers

If I knew that she was good for 10-20 freezable eggs, I would go Meyer 734 on her. Take those heifers and breed them to a TH carrier once they are mature cows. She is a very nice female, and is pretty moderate for a maine. I have always thought that 734 x maine was as good, if not better, than 734 x angus.

The males could be marketable as bulls too!! Has she ever been bred simmy?

her 2nd calf was a theobald 969, it was nooooooo bueno.lol

What do you feel has worked best with her and do NOT IVF her if she means anything to you. Conventional superovulation flushing will get you better freezable embryos and will not damage the ovaries

Point Taken and Bojo. the black heifer is a point taken and the b//w is a bojo

that point taken was phenominal in person!! maybe revolution would be an option with a shot of point taken in him!! Or heck, just use point taken on her.

This is what I ws thinking, but as many calves as she has had I might be tempted to flush her to the sire of her best calf.......  No need to reinvent the wheel

Dr. Whos can be a little round for todays world I would stay away from that one in my opinion. We have fed and sold a few Dr. Whos. It looks like she needs a touch of middle put back in the calves (only ones offered being bojo going back to ali can be weird bellied sometimes). The biggest question is do you want to shoot for steers or replacements until you figure that out 90% of people on here are just going to spit out whatever bull they heard won the last show haha. and I agree with the pretty place comment
