Splurged today and bought some Plainview Lutton semen.  Thought I might get some keeper Sim Angus heifers out of my Dream On and Legacy Simmental cows.

Anybody have experience with his calves?  Can I use him successfully on maine cross or shorty cows?

Lut? dumbest name ever. they should have called called him lute (as in olson). If you have semen, hold on to it. Reserve angus heifer in Denver was a lut. You know how political the point major angus shows are? The "angus people" were coming unglued that a no name got hardware with a "damn club calf heifer"

Mike Hibma sold a baby lut heifer out of one of his crossbred donors with McKay for 55k. He died too young, but that mofo was GOOOOOOD.

I saw a few of Mike's calves out of Lut, and they were some DAMN good Angus calves.  A friend of mine used Lut quite a bit, and has some good calves on the ground right now.

Plainview lutton does make some real stylish calves but I wouldn't get your hopes up for some real great cows.  I've seen a bunch of lutton(his daddy) first calf heifers and cows and wasn't impressed.

i believe his semen is worth $50.

i saw him on display as a two year old and he was very impressive then. very heavily muscled for an angus and very complete.
