Does anyone have a Polaris Ranger?  I am thinking about buying one or maybe a kubota side by side.  If you have one how has your experience been, and would you buy another.

I own a 2001 Polaris Ranger and it is a working machine, if you are looking at a new one do not let them talk you into the 700cc engine you do not need it.  Mine has the 500cc and it is all you need, will haul 1000 lbs. in the bed and will pull a load.  I personally would recommend it over the Kubota due to their weight of the diesel engine.  The Yamaha Rhino and Kawasaki Mule are simply play toys to hunt out of, we use our Ranger daily on the farm and really like it.  Without a doubt I would buy a second one.

The Research station that I work at has a Bobcat model just like the Kubota. Its diesel and it simply cannot be beat. It hauls, and can go just about anywhere. However I would recommend the Kubota over both as I have heard nothing but positive remarks about these. One more thing to think about is that John Deere has a new style of gator similar to the Kubota that is really nice.

I have to disagree with you sawboss (sorry). We just recently traded our old Rhino off for a new one. We got the 08 EFI model. It is a work horse. We use it to pull pivots out, haul feed, and pull the pipe trailer. Yesterday we even pulled a 20 ft trailer with 50+ square bales on it with it. They are a lot tougher than people give them credit for. They are unstoppable when it comes to snow, mud, water etc. They are tons of fun, and can do just about any job a truck can. I recommend the Rhino to anyone who asks about this topic.

We have a 2006 Ranger and we use it for absolutely everything.  I've even been quoted as saying"Take my wife, take my kids, but please don't take my Ranger."  I would recommend looking at the comparisons Succesful Farming magazine did on all the ATV (Ranger type) vehicles out in Colorado.  I think you'll probably choose a Ranger.  The features that really sold me was the power( some of the others have caught up somewhat in the last couple of years) and the ride.

Friends of mine who have ridden with me have traded their Kubotas, Kawasakis, and Gators off for Rangers since I got mine just based on the ride over rough ground.
I even talked to several dealers who handle more than one line and when you ask them which one they would or do own-- it was unanimous--they all had Rangers.  The only thing I would change about mine is the parking break(its been changed on newer models) and the endgate on the box( I think the support cables have also been changed on the newer models).  Those two things are pretty minor, though, and like I said it rides so well and has a top end speed of over 50 MPH.  That's the only warning I would give you--its not for inexperienced kids to drive, it just has too much top end!!  All I know is that I looked at them for years and drove almost every kind of vehicle made before I finally decided to buy one.  I wouldn't change to any other vehicle than the Polaris Ranger I have now--except maybe a new one.  I have the Browning edition with the 700CC motor, a winch, and a blade and I move a lot of snow in the winter.  I think the 700 is a big plus for that.  I was chasing cows last night through water that was coming over the floor and I got along just fine.  I know I can drive it a lot of places I probably wouldn't walk!!

We have the Kubota RTV900 that we've had for several years and have been very happy with it, but if we were buying another today it would be the Ranger.

My work has a ranger and it is AWESOME, great for building fence (the only thing it is used for) and it rides good going from one end of the corn stalks to the other getting the hammer that always seems to be left in the truck :'(

TCR, Everyone has their preference so an apology is not necessary.  Yes the Rhino is fast but when you look at the specs on it, it is simply the Grizzly four wheeler with a body on it.  It is easier to maneuver and smaller than the Ranger, but at 6'7" 285lbs. not very comfortable for us big boys, besides 50 mph in a utility vehicle is not my idea of an enjoyable ride.  Wear your helmet!
